Le RoseyCamps EXCELLENCE CAMP MOUNTAIN WEEK 7th to 13th July 2019 All camp activities take place in Switzerland, between Gstaad and Zermatt. All activities are supervised by state-qualified professionals and all equipment is provided. The overnight stay in mountain huts will be in shared dormitories, or in tents. Please be aware that the level of comfort in the mountain huts can be rudimentary. This programme is dependent on weather conditions and may be modified to ensure the safety of participants. Sunday 7th July Arrival day welcome on our Schönried campus (between 9am and 4pm) Checking material; preparing bags for the next day Icebreakers and activities Night spent on campus Monday 8th July Swing jump in Montbovon Rock climbing with mountain guides on Horneggli Transport to the Arnon Lake, activities around the lake Barbecue and camping outdoors overnight Tuesday 9th July Morning swim in the lake Three-hour walk to the amazing pass of Le Pillon and map orienteering Making torches out of tree sap Ascent to the hut of Les Diablerets by cable car (2485m) Overnight in a mountain hut (dorms) Wednesday 10st July Hiking on Les Diablerets glacier with crampons (3000m) Via Ferrata and abseil the Quille du Diable Walk down to the hut Prarochet (2556 m) Overnight in a mountain hut (dorms) Thursday 11th July Scenic walk down to the Sanetsch Pass (2251m) Transport to Zermatt. ESSENTIAL RULES 1. Alcohol, drugs, energy drinks and cigarettes are forbidden at all times. 2. Participants must respect others, their culture and religious beliefs, and will refrain from any action contrary to the principles of respect for others. 3. Safety instructions and orders issued by mountain guides and the crew of the Ipharra are mandatory and are to be adhered to at all times without question. HEALTH A nurse is escorting the group throughout the 1 st week. Should there be any medical problems or if an accident occurs, the person in charge has the necessary equipment (cellphones) to contact a doctor and, if necessary, to undertake an emergency evacuation. Parents will always be informed in the case of any major medical problem. If parents cannot be contacted quickly enough, Le Rosey will consult doctors on behalf of the parents. A participant may not administer medication to him/herself and may not have medication on his/her person. If a person is following regular medication, parents must inform the staff of any medicines prescribed. TELEPHONE Each participant must bring a mobile (cell) phone (including charger + adaptor); please ensure that it can be used on Swiss and French networks. Telephone use is discouraged in favour of interacting with the rest of the students and teachers. On the boat, time on the phone may be restricted by the teacher in charge. Personal computers are not allowed. PLEASE ENSURE THAT: The flight ticket (with the return already reserved) is handed in upon arrival along with the passport or identity card, vaccination records and any medicine that your child needs to take.
RECOMMENDED PACKING LIST Only the items on this list are required; it is advised that participants do not bring extra items: 1 mountain backpack (with a minimum capacity of 40 litres) 1 foldable travel bag 14 changes of underwear 14 pairs of socks 2 pairs of long, warm socks 2 pairs of pyjamas 14 T-shirts / polo shirts 2 pairs of shorts 2 pairs of trousers 2 pullovers (1 light + 1 warm) Cap + warm hat Toiletries (+ sun cream) Sunglasses If you wear glasses, bring a spare pair A pair of warm gloves 1 light windproof jacket A warm rain jacket and trousers in Goretex material 1 pair of trekking shoes 1 tracksuit 2 swimming costumes / trunks 1 set of clothes for travelling in A drinking pouch with plastic tube which can be attached to the rucksack, or 1 plastic/ stainless steel water bottle 1 headlamp We recommend you bring some light reading for the time off on the boat As phone use is restricted, make sure you bring a digital camera A small flag of your home country Optional: a pair of telescopic walking poles Bed linen and towels (including bathing towels) are provided. PERSONAL EFFECTS It is essential that all clothing be marked before the start of camp. There is no laundry service during the mountain week. Clothes can be washed on board the Ipharra during the Sea week.
