Your survival depends on the supplies you have with you, materials you find in nature, materials scavenged from and old plane wreck and your resourcefulness. What is the Klondike Derby? The Klondike Derby is an event that challenges the scouts by giving them a problem or situation to solve as a team at each station. Camporee Theme This year s Camporee will teach Wilderness Survival Merit Badge skills while being stranded in the Allagash in winter. The Scouts will be challenged to accomplish tasks with limited resources and limitless imagination. Morning Stations: Theme for each of the station is related to the Wilderness Survival Merit Badge. Bring your completed blue cards. At each station, scouts will be given a scenario with a problem for them to figure out. Scouts are required to solve the problem using their own abilities and training. Scouts are given points based not only on accomplishment of the problem, but on patrol spirit, team unity, and other scout qualities. Afternoon Stations: Patrols of 6-10 Scouts pull a dog sled, full of required articles, from station to station. Additional points given for meeting sled requirements and for preparedness for the weather. Camporee Details Miscellaneous: CHECK-IN: Units must check in upon arrival, Friday evening or Saturday morning. Submit a patrol roster of all participants and note if they are camping. Patrols should be made up of 6-10 Scouts. All units are responsible for their members medical forms. CAMPING/PARKING: Rt. 97 lot assigned for Friday and Saturday night camping. There will be no assigned areas. Parking in designated areas. No parking in campsite. Please leave your Unit number and a contact number on the dashboard. FIRST AID: First aid emergencies should be directed to the main building. All minor first aid opportunities should be handled by the individual unit and then checked at the main building. Staff will be on hand throughout the event to monitor for frostbite and hypothermia. EMERGENCY CONTACTS: o Topsfield Fire Dept. (978) 887-5148 or 911. o Topsfield Police Dept. (978) 887-6533 or 911. PORTA POTTIES: Located in the camping area for your convenience. FIRES: Fires are only allowed in a container OFF the ground. Please bring above ground fire pit and your own wood; there is no wood available at the Fairgrounds. WATER: Water will be available. Scouts should wear properly attired for the day! A Scout is Always Prepared. Jeans and sneakers are not proper attire! Pack-In, Pack-Out. Please keep the Fairgrounds clean, We want to be welcomed back. Take your trash home

2019 Klondike Registration Registration Register online at www.scoutspirit.org. Registration fee is $8.00 per participant. The troop cost will be $10.00. Troops must be registered by February 15, 2019 This is necessary to obtain required supplies Check-In Please bring your payment receipt when checking in at the registration area (clubhouse) at Topsfield Fairgrounds. Every unit is to check in at registration upon arrival. Please provide the staff with a patrol list including: Troop number, Patrol name, number of Scouts in Patrol, age and rank of each Scout. Topsfield Fairgrounds is located at 207 Boston St, Topsfield, MA 01983. To enter fairgrounds utilize Rt. 97 entrance.
