The Itinerary Wednesday Morning Depart school at 6:15am. Catch train to York from Kings Cross at 9:08. Arrive in York at 11:30am.
Arrive at 3:00pm. Wednesday afternoon Dig At Dig the children will become archaeological detectives They will get the chance to excavate objects from the streets of York and then decide what they are, what they are made from, and why they got there. Evening meal at 6:00pm. Evening activity at 7:00pm.

At Dig the children will become archaeological detectives They will get the chance to excavate objects from the streets of York and then decide what they are, what they are made from, and why they got there. They will find out about the work of archaeologists They will also have the chance to meet real archaeologists and talk to them about their work, see and handle artefacts from York and view recent exciting discoveries.
Thursday: The Jorvik Centre York Minster The Yorkshire Museum (Everything is in walking distance!)
Thursday: Breakfast at 7:45am. Jorvik Centre at 10:00am. Lunch at 12:30pm. Visit Yorkshire Museum at 1:00pm. All meet back at York Minster at 3:30pm. Evening meal at 6:00pm. Evening activity at 7:00pm.
There is a museum and real Vikings to explain the exhibits
Friday morning Breakfast at 7:45am. Visit the market and The Shambles for final bit of shopping.(and buy Mr Kitcatt lots of chocolate ) at 9:00am. Leave York at 12:01pm. Arrive back at Kings Cross at 2:25pm. Back at school at 4:30pm.
Evening Activities We are active in the evenings. There are a range of fun activities to engage the children and promote team work and deepen their learning about the Vikings.
York Youth Hostel
York Youth Hostel Ground floor has large dining / meeting room Accomodation in a block- keyed entry Bedrooms for 2-8 children. Bedrooms have ensuite facilities or a bathroom next door. Adults rooms adjacent to children's rooms
The journey Coach travel from school to Kings Cross Station Two hour train journey from Kings Cross to York All luggage transported from York station to accommodation by taxi (and back the other way). Children will be responsible for carrying their own luggage at other times though!
Travel Requirements Luggage: One small suitcase/holdall with item list inside* A wheeled suitcase is ideal or a holdall the children must be able to carry themselves. Packed lunch with drink no cans or breakable container please and placed in a small rucksack/backpack. The children will need the bag everyday to carry their lunches. Waterproof warm coat, hat & gloves. Clothing for journey: The children should wear school uniform sweatshirts. They may wear plain dark leggings, trousers or smart jeans.
Suggested Clothing List Clothes should be comfortable and clearly labelled with the school and child s name. Nightwear normal nightwear Underwear 3 days supply Socks 3 days supply Tops e.g. long sleeved T Shirts (pack 2) Jumper sweatshirt or jumper, (1) Trousers jeans, leggings, tracksuit (pack 1) Footwear comfortable shoes for walking (not brand new ones), or trainers, indoor shoes (soft shoes or slippers) Towels x 1 Toiletries in washbag - soap, flannel, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, hairbrush/comb. *Please attach an item list to the inside of your child s suitcase to help your child check and pack for the return journey.
Money and Camera The children may take a maximum of 8.00 (in coins please) to buy small souvenirs. The money will need to be handed to the teachers on Monday 12th March in a named envelope. A disposable named camera. The children should have a working knowledge of the camera and will be responsible for it at all times.
Medication If your child requires any medication, please could you come and pick up a medication request form from the school office. With the exception of Paracetamol, all medicines for residential trips must be prescribed. All medications (eg: for travel sickness, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, hayfever, eczema, nut allergy etc) including ibuprofen must be prescribed. They must be in-date, pharmacy labelled, provided in the original container as dispensed by a pharmacist and include instructions for administration, dosage and storage.
We aim to be back to school on Friday in time for tea.
