Caravan Ages 9-11 Caravan campers travel three days a week to a new destination each trip. Campers visit local and state parks, educational sites, amusement centers, and still find time to have fun at the Rec Center. While on campus, campers will enjoy swimming, climbing the rock wall, canoeing and using the various spaces for sports and recreation. Mondays and Fridays are at the Rec. Backwoods and Beyond Ages 11-14 For our older campers, Backwoods and Beyond offers three days of travel on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Field trips include visiting different destinations across the Miami Valley and Southwest Ohio. Tuesdays and Thursdays are spent playing games, participating in activities and experiencing the other options that the Rec Center and Rec West facilities has to offer. Specialty Camps Art Camp Ages 9-14 Get your brushes ready and expand your creative palate in a wide variety of creative art projects this summer. Campers will use a variety of mediums to explore new ways of expressing their artistic personality, from fashion to sculpture to pen and paper! Camp meets daily at the Recreation Center and will also include traditional camp favorites such as swimming and organized outdoor play. Dirt Alert! Theatre Camp ACTION! Summer Camp at Town Hall Theatre is the best of high quality arts programming and traditional summer camp. Students will develop life skills such as public speaking, collaboration, and communication through stage skills such as improv, movement, and acting workshops. Each session ends in a final showcase performance that celebrates the students achievements. Campers can also expect to swim at the Rec Center pool, play both theatre and traditional summer camp games, and build skills and friendships that last a lifetime. A weekly visit across the street to Graeter s Ice Cream is also planned. Transportation to and from extended care at Rec West is available. Theatre camps do not travel on field trips. Grades 1-3 These one week camps are led by professional instructors as campers develop public speaking skills and build self-confidence. Once Upon a Time (July 15-19) From beautiful princesses to magical fairies, handsome princes to courageous knights, and extraordinary wizards to terrifying dragons, discover and explore the world of Fairy Tales. Campers will make their own royal crown, act out their favorite stories, bring characters to life, and maybe even slay a dragon or two. Parents can look forward to seeing their own prince or princess on stage at the end of camp. The World of Dr. Suess (July 29-August 2) Join Thing One and Thing Two on an amazing adventure. From the silly antics of The Cat in the Hat to the wonderful world of the Who s in Who-ville, explore the whimsical world of Dr. Suess. Campers will act out their favorite Suess stories, make a thing-a-ma-jig, bring characters to life, and maybe even discover a Kwuggerbug. Stagecrafters Grades 3-8 These unique two week camps lead campers to explore acting, playwriting and stage craft while developing creative thinking, cooperation and technical skills on and off stage. Camp culminates in a presentation for family and friends. Campers also have opportunities to swim, rock climb, canoe and get outside. On the Spot! (June 3-14) This is your chance to explore the amazing world of improv and create your own world full of unique characters and strange situations. With improv, the opportunities are endless and anything can happen when you are in charge of the story. Campers will explore improvisational exercises, styles and techniques as they learn how to tell a story onstage all while thinking on their feet and coming up with everything right on the spot. Broadway Boot Camp (June 17-28) Get ready for bootcamp. Combining music and choreography, Broadway Bootcamp is for you! Using songs from popular musicals like Hamilton and Classic Broadway hits, Broadway Bootcamp focuses on polishing skills specifically for musical theatre. Students will develop their musical skills as they learn choreography, sing together as a group, and develop their confidence singing in front of others. Culminating in a final showcase that is sure to dazzle, Broadway Bootcamp is the perfect place for you. Behind the Scences (July 1-12) Have you ever been amazed by the sets, costumes, lights and sounds of a theatre production? Campers will explore areas of technical theatre as they learn skills that the professionals use. Come learn the backstage skills that make of the magic happen! No class July 4th. Superhero Academy (July 22-26) Join heroes from the Avengers and the Justice League as you discover your own super powers, create your own super identity, and fight super villains. Campers will learn storytelling, character development and much more through the amazing stories of their favorite super heroes. Go Hogwarts! (August 5-9) You have been accepted to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! Enter the wizarding world of Harry Potter as campers explore the wonderful characters and stories of JK Rowling.
