Volume 40, #8 August, 2008 President s Messag ge I for one am sick and tired of this rain and stormy weather. Luckily we have been spared the flooding. I hope everyone is getting caught up with the repairing of their storm damage. I think after the big display (Seldin car show) I am going to start scrubbing clean all the antique cars, the quickie clean jobs are taking their toll. I would like to welcome back Joe and Karlene from their trip to Ireland. From what Joe told me they had a great time. Also Judy Beckman just back from visiting relatives on the west coast The August eat out will be at Jonesy s Taco House on the 21 st. Lloyd 1

Gretna Parade The Meadowlark s were out in force for the Gretna parade we had 10 cars attend. Also Terry and Maryann Hanson came all the way from Hines, Minnesota to cheer us on. Bob and Mary McKinney served us a wonderful BBQ lunch afterwards. Seldin Car Display Despite a dismal weather forecast, and the hospitalization of two members just before the display, nothing could stop the Meadowlarks from putting on a good car display. Twenty-one hearty Model A ers showed up at 120 th and Center on July 24, 2008 to show off their beautiful Model A s to a fairly large crowd of appreciative shoppers. Seldin was celebrating the Grand Re-Opening of his shopping center. In addition to the car display, they had free ice cream and cake, rides for the kids, clowns, and a Barber Shop Quartet that serenaded us a couple times during the evening. The best part was that the weather cooperated, it cooled off nicely, and not one-drop of rain fell from the sky. I really would like to thank John Mabry and Ed Jankowski for helping direct and park cars, and also the following members that graciously volunteered to bring out their cars and put them on display that evening. They are as follows; John Mabry, Don Noodell, Karen Noodell, Bob McKinney (who brought two cars), Roland Kunz, David Beckman, Zack Beckman, Larry Blecka, Don Graves, Dick Knapp, Gene Partridge, Ed Jankowski, Tony Hartenhoff, Lloyd Burke, Lee Hendricks, Greg Bowden, Charles Earnest, El Gertner, Roger Olson, and Bob Rand (who came all the way from Missouri Valley), and myself. Also a special thanks to Jan Hartenhoff who played mother hen, driving clean up, to make sure that all of the cars from Council Bluffs made it to the display and safely home again. The club put together a really nice display in a very short time period, and it was really appreciated by Seldin. Thanks to all who participated! Howard Denker 4
