Hosted by Skyknights Aeromodeling Team. www.hpfieldhouse.com Editors Page THE ANSWER TO JANUARY S NAME THAT PLANE The name of the plane is the Martin Canberra EB-57B. Larry Bochenko was the first to answer it correctly and will receive a free raffle ticket at this month s meeting. Bob Wisinski also answered correctly. This aircraft was one of a small number of British combat aircraft to be produced under license in the United States. Designed for the Royal Air Force as a high altitude medium bomber, it was the first jet to cross the Atlantic Ocean. See picture below. FEBRUARY S NAME THAT PLANE In the 1960 s, this country s military sought a new aircraft with short runway performance. Other requirements included supersonic ability at low level, mach 2 performance at high altitude, and the ability to make short landings at low angles of attack. With the development of the turbo fan engines, this aircraft was the first to utilize two unique options that at the time other aircraft were using only one or the other of the two options, allowing it to be a good STOL aircraft. This aircraft made its maiden flight in early 1967. Send all responses to Bradford Walters at Bradford@thehoverzone.com.
