CUPCAKE UPDATE FROM SHARON COLLINS So why make cupcakes? Who knows!! I am involved in two 4WD clubs so I thought if I made cup-cakes and take them along that would be a good idea. They have a Facebook site so the orders were coming in thick and fast. Someone asked if I could do gluten free? Of course no problems! Quickly google best cupcake recipe for gluten free and away we go. Of course I failed to mention the fact that I had never cooked cupcakes before or decorated them. Although I have cooked cakes before. In my 4WD club I have actually got a bit of a reputation with my camp oven dampers. I can live without this reputation as it means cooking damper on the coals for everyone nearly every trip!! Great job Sharon. The first club meeting I made 7 dozen (two dozen being gluten free). The only complaint was from my husband Tony as he only got half a banana cupcake (not iced) for a taste test. They all want me to do a repeat performance. The answer to that was This is a once in a lifetime event, thanks. The second club meeting sold 6 dozen cupcakes (posts on face book have all been really great) I raised $395.00 which included a $10.00 donation as well for Royal Flying Doctor Service a very worth while cause.
New Member Gaylene has also been hard at work in a hot kitchen cooking donuts and providing helping hands for the Rotary Club of Robinvale Euston
Over the last week our cruising Nomads have been posting reports on our Club s Facebook page of their sailing adventures and on-board luxuries and great food. Here are a few. Rotary Nomads at sea. Modern technology has meant that our Nomads have been able to keep in touch with us land lubbers and we even had Steven Bennett and Marlene Charles join us from near Darwin for our Zoom Meeting on 28 March. Our Club members even held a Zoom meeting of their own and posted the recording at : https://zoom.us/recording/play/imlt2paa9hm_udpbsitm5mu3ktxocbscv9gzbrgecehc9h3hqb7zdiygkixsadvv More pictures below and on our Club Facebook page :
Tony and Faye Powell have been having a relaxing trip in South Australia, doing some leisurely cycling on their cycling trails. They must build cyclists tough in South Australia as our rides recently on the Yorke Peninsula have been on tourist promoted trails that have been on corrugated gravel roads our last ride was 64km of which 3 km was walking our bike through sand and 50km was really bad corrugated road. I guess one advantage is we will never need to see a chiropractor as every bone was jolted in and out of joint several times. Contrary to popular belief, there is surf at Adelaide beaches when a gale blows.
Thanks this week to Kate Field who knew the Big Buddha, the largest indoor Buddha, is in the Todai-ji Temple, Japan. Some of our Nomads may see this one on their extended tour of Japan after the cruise. With the health issues surrounding rock melons it may be wise to switch to Watermelons for a while and here is a BIG slice for someone who knows where it is located?

Gaylene s 2 nd pic is of Paddy Hannan. Bob s pic is of a Roman warrior with his wife begging him to not go to war. Question : April is Maternal and Child Health Month, what are some examples of Rotary s work in this area?. Answer : There are many Rotary programs focused on this area of need, here are some examples from RAWCS (Rotary Australia World Community Service) Rotarians make a difference throughout the world. For example, Bo Childrens Hospital in Sierra Leonne, built by the Rotary Club of Turramurra, is one of many projects through which we provide care, equipment, and training opportunities for health care staff to improve maternal and child health. Maternal and child health support the Eastern Highlands, Papua New Guinea - Renovation & refurbishment of Reproductive Health Clinic awareness program for parents. Solomon Islands Kenya - Aspects of birthing and nutrition receive support. Source : RAWCS projects

I ve really had it with my dog: he ll chase anyone on a bicycle. So what are you going to do leave him at the dog s home? Give him away? Sell him? No, nothing that drastic. I think I ll just confiscate his bike.
