March 2014 Traveling in the Past and Present Tallahassee Region Next Meeting March 11, 2014 Old Auto Museum Dinner 6:00 pm General Meeting 6:45 pm Club Officers President Don Pumphrey Vice President Ed Schuler The Tallahassee Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America The Tallahassee Region of the AACA (TRAACA) is a region of the national club, the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA). The AACA was established in 1935 and is dedicated to the history of the automobile as well as the preservation and/or restoration of vehicles 25 years old or older. This includes cars, trucks, commercial vehicles, and motorcycles in original or restored condition. The TRAACA was established in 1970. Activities include regular meetings, judged shows, displays, local tours cruises, rallies and sponsorship and participation in regional and national antique auto related events. If you wish to become a member of our regional club, then you are also required to become a member of the national club, the AACA. There are many benefits associated with both memberships. Belonging to the Tallahassee Region gives you an award winning monthly newsletter, the Tallahassee Chassee, and access to the many people who share a love of antique and collector vehicles. You may just enjoy the fellowship or partake of the technical experience available from our membership to help you in your enjoyment of the hobby. Ownership of an antique automobile, however, is not a requirement for membership. Each year the club participates in many activities, including tours (local and overnighters) and numerous car displays and shows. Annually we have our Chili Dinner and Auction in November and a Christmas celebration in December. Throughout the year numerous activities are made available to members, such that there are plenty of activities and opportunities for your enjoyment. Tallahassee Region P.O. Page 4 Tallahassee Chassee March 2014 From your Reporters in the field: Ramblings and Roving's of Junkyard Dog & Fluffy - with Stray Dogs Thanksgiving 2013 Cars (Part 3 and the last of this series ) By Jack Hanbury 1932 Ford Pickup As you have seen in the January and February TRAACA newsletter I have enjoyed seeing a lot of good quality cars and talking to some enjoyable collectors. I wrote in part one that I could not have printed all 80 vehicles in just three series. In part 3, I have tried to show as many vehicles I could in each picture and still indicate the quality and taste this collector and hobbyist has in old cars. The owner has a friend helping him prep the cars for sale and working with him to help move them to new homes. I have received a lot of inquiries about a number of them and have past their phone numbers on the way. I m still surprised to see the number of cars that are still stored away and waiting to be found and sold. A new TV program Black Gold hosted by Cocky Coker and Honest Charles started Feb 5 on the travel channel 277 on DirecTV every Wednesday 9:00pm, just on barn finds and following up leads from other car collectors etc. This is what Fluffy & I have been doing for years, but without money, we just print what we find. If we had won the lottery Fluffy & I would have a yard full. You will be surprised what we have just found here in Tallahassee for sale. We have just visited over 70 cars from poor to good condition, with owner wanting to sale. We ll give update next month. Until then we will be out smelling the rust and looking. - THE END - 1934 Nash Coupe Junkyard Dog with Stray Dogs Somewhere in Georgia Photos are continued on the next page 1955 Ford Convertible
