IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOU AND YOUR CAMPER! 2019 SUMMER CAMP DATES Summer Camp programs run from July 2 to August 30, 2019. Camps are cancelled on August 5, 2019. PLEASE COME PREPARED WITH THE FOLLOWING A nut free lunch and snacks that do not require refrigeration (we are NUT AWARE). A refillable water bottle, sunscreen and a hat. Dress in comfortable clothing and wear closed toed shoes (please ensure all belongings are labeled). For campers who go swimming, please come prepared with a bathing suit and a towel. For campers who go skating, please come prepared with skates, warm clothes, gloves and a CSA approved helmet. TOWN OF AURORA SUMMER CAMP STAFF Treat all campers, parents/guardians and patrons with respect, dignity and honestly. Are a minimum of 16 years of age. Are trained in Standard First-Aid & CPR C, AED, AODA, have a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check, as well as attend extensive pre-camp training which includes Safe Management and Physical Literacy training programs. BEFORE CAMP STARTS You will receive a Camp Welcome Letter. This letter will provide you a full list of details for all our camps. The Thursday before your week of camp, you will receive a camper email to the email address listed on your account. Please ensure this information is up to date. This email will include full details on your camper s upcoming week, as well as all forms that will need to be completed and brought to drop off on Monday morning. We welcome all parents or guardians to speak to our camp staff at anytime through out the camp, or feel free to call 905-726-4761 to speak to your Community Programs Coordinator. COMMUNITY CODE OF CONDUCT Our staff will make every effort to accommodate your child s needs and integrate them into programming, however we reserve the right with our Community Code of Conduct to remove and withdraw your child from the program should their behavior cause harm to themselves, participants, staff or property. INTEGRATION SERVICES The Town of Aurora welcomes participants of all ages and abilities to join our summer camp programs. Every effort will be made for a child to participate at a level suitable to their abilities, support needs, program choice and facility access. Arrangements for assistance may be available with one of the Integration Counsellors or Volunteers. Let us help you provide a positive experience for your camper. SUPPORT OPTIONS 1. You may provide your own one-to-one support (yourself, family friend or professional). 2. You may request a Volunteer. Volunteers are primarily students volunteering their time, and their qualifications are minimal. Volunteers participate in our Counsellor In Training program. 3. You may request an Integration Counsellor. PLEASE NOTE: The deadline to request an Integration Counsellor for your child is March 29, 2019. AURORA RESIDENTS: Integration staff support in available at no charge if requests are made by March 29, 2019*. NON-AURORA RESIDENTS: Integration staff support is available to non-residents at an additional fee of $15.77/hr if requests are made by March 29, 2019*. *Requests made after the deadline will be added to a waitlist for support and will only be accommodated should staffing and space become available (Residents may be subject to a $15.77/hr fee for support after deadline). HOW TO REGISTER FOR SUPPORT 1. Review the current Community Services Program Guide Summer Camps section for a camp that your child may be interested in. 2. Contact our Community Programmer to discuss your registration plans and support options by phone at 905-727-3123 ext. 3121 or by email at vchristofilos@aurora.ca before registering. 3. Complete a participant Intake Form that is to be reviewed by the Community Programmer to determine what kind of support is required in order for the participant to be successful in the integrated, recreational setting. 4. Register for your camp. 5. The Community Programmer will confirm your support requirements prior to the start of the program and camp chosen. PLEASE NOTE Final decisions regarding support options as outlined above are at the discretion of Town of Aurora staff. It is at the discretion of Town of Aurora staff to determine whether or not a participant s support needs are beyond the scope of staff training and knowledge. In these cases, parents/guardians may be required to provide their own support, which will come at their own expense should they be unable to secure funding from a third party. When considering a recreation experience, please consider the individual needs, and that the recreation integrated setting may not be suitable for all persons with disabilities. Health and Safety of participants and staff is paramount, which could result in participants being denied access to the program. Participants expecting financial assistance from a third party organization (ie. PLAY) are REQUIRED to notify Town staff if they require one-to-one assistance in the summer by the March 29, 2019 deadline, regardless of when funding is confirmed.

ACTIVE/SPORTS CAMPS AURORA MUNICIPAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE CAMP Age: 7 to 13 years Location: TBC Enjoy a week of AMBL excitement, where each day will feature multiple player challenges, fun games, skill development and scrimmage opportunities. Participants will have a chance to go swimming during the week. The last day will feature a number of special events and a tournament. BEFORE & AFTER HOURS EXTENDED CARE If you register your child(ren) for one of our exciting full day Summer Camp Programs, you can take advantage of extended hours of supervision. Extended Care is intended for parents who need to get to work on time or who may need some additional supervision for their child once the regular camp programs end each day. Children will be supervised by qualified and energetic Camp Staff who will have an excellent selection of enjoyable activities to offer children of all ages. There will be games, crafts, table games, cards and much more. Extended Care is only available for our FULL DAY Camps. NEW FOR 2019 The Town of Aurora will be offering 3 Extended Care Locations: AFLC, SARC and ACC. Each full day camp option has been assigned an Extended Care Location, please refer to the chart below for specific locations. AM Extended Care 7AM to 8:45AM Please note that busses depart promptly at 8:45 am. Please make sure your child is dropped off prior to 8:45 am as busses will not be held for participants. Parents that arrive late will be required to transport their camper(s) to the appropriate camp location on their own. PM Extended Care 4PM to 6PM Campers must be picked up by 6:00pm. Please phone 905-726-4770 if you are running late. An additional fee of $5.00/child for each 15 minute interval will be charged.
