MARCH THE DISTRIBUTOR Central CT Region News 2019 March 2019 March Membership Meeting Please join us for our March 2019 membership meeting for a tour of the New England Air Museum (NEAM). Our last visit, a number of years ago, was very interesting, informative and well attended. A number of new aircraft and displays have been added in the last few years. The New England Air Museum s collection contains over 100 aircraft ranging from early flying machines to supersonic jets. Over 65 aircraft are on display in three large exhibit hangars and in an outdoor display area (open depending on weather) while others are in storage and restoration hangars. Please arrive at 10:00 A.M. so we can start the tour by 10:15. The cost of admission plus tour fee is $15. The club will pay the $15 for members and will pay $5 for any guests (guests pay $10). Hope to see you on 3/23 and please bring another member or a guest. Saturday, March 23, 2019 10:00 am The New England Air Museum 36 perimeter Road Windsor Locks, CT 06096 Directions to The New England Air Museum From the Hartford area: Route 91 to Exit 40, Rt. 20 toward Bradley Airport. Take second right exit off Rt. 20 to Rt. 75 North. Go 2.8 miles and turn left at museum sign onto Perimeter Rd. Museum is on your right. We wish to extend a warm welcome to Ian Mastin of East Granby as a new member of our Central CT Region, AACA. Ian owns several interesting vehicles ranging from vintage to modern. Our February meeting at Springfield Crankshaft and Engine Machining in Chicopee, MA was attended by about 25 CCR and VCCC members. We had a very interesting demonstration of the engine machining process from initial cleaning of the old parts through cylinder head rebuilding, crankshaft grinding, cylinder boring, and line boring. We watched as they welded material to salvage a damaged crankshaft. Movie night at the Old Well Tavern in Simsbury, hosted by the Valley Collector Car Club, was attended by about 20 members of CCR and VCCC on February 28th. A good meal and Cannonball Run were enjoyed by all. 3

New Business By the time you read this the February meeting at the Springfield Crankshaft and Engine Machining in Chicopee will have happened. We do have some more meetings lined up for the rest of the year. In March Nick Nesci is working on a tour of Channel 3 in Rocky Hill. The TV station only gives tours on weekdays. More information will follow in the Distributor. Look for a tour and our banquet in April. Again, details will be in the Distributor. June 15 th is Klingberg, not a club event. If anyone has an idea of a place we can go, please let us know. Our April Banquet is coming up. We might again have it at the Dakota in Rocky Hill. Read your Distributor for details. On a final note, the Valley Car Club car show will be on the 3 rd Sunday in July. Our Region should have a tent at this show. Meeting adjourned at 7:50 PM Paul C. Bosco, Secretary MAPLE SYRUP TOUR John Bieback is hosting the Maple Syrup Tour again this year on Saturday April 6, 2019, rain date Sunday April 7 th.
