CAPACITIES OF NAUTICAL TOURISM TODAY

WILD BERTH DISADVANTAGES «Wild berth» where, due to badly organized basic offer (collection on and removal of waste, control of sewage disposal faecal discharge/water, bilge water, replaced lubricating oil ), the exceptional purity and quality of our sea is rather endangered.

NAUTICAL TOURISM IN CROATIA TOMORROW assigning nautical tourism one of major roles in the sustainable development of Croatian coast and islands ensuring active role of local government in decision making on the development of nautical tourism in a particular area activating island, regional and national economic resources raising quality through the development of complementary activities ensuring an eight-month season by expanding resources and by raising service quality ensuring important role of Croatia in the distribution of international tourist consumption

PARAMETERS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF NAUTICAL TOURISM AIMING AT ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS PHYSICAL- CHEMICAL CHARACTERIS TICS BIOLOGICAL AND ECOLOGICAL VALUE HUMAN ACTIVITY AND ITS IMPACT CRITERIA FOR ASSESSMENT OF ECOLOGICAL VALUE CRITERIA FOR ASSESSMENT OF AREA SENSITIVITY POTENTIAL INFLUENCE OF MARINAS ON ENVIRONMENT CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF MARINA LOCATIONS

PROJECT STRATEGY will work out the development as spaciotemporal component should contribute the development of entrepreneurial spirit in Croatia and it promotes the role of the state administration on the model of most developed countries of the democratic Europe. Professions will define the most appropriate projects and construction technique of the ports of nautical tourism.

PROJECT S BASIC ELEMENTS Small investments large profits Elimination of Black Anchoring Agreement with local and regional bodies Synergy with other nautical and tourist projects Government supervision of the Project

ECOLOGICAL CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF AREAS UNSUITABLE FOR BUILDING NEW OR EXTENDING PRESENT CAPACITIES OF NAUTICAL TOURISM General characteristics of the area Assessment of ecological conditions Biological and ecological value Pollution sources Competitive activities BIOLOGICAL AND LANDSCAPE DIVERSITY ELIMINATION CRITERIA ACTIVITIES INCOMPATIBLE WITH NAUTICAL TOURISM PRESERVED, UNTOUCHED NATURE IMPORTANCE FOR VITAL ACTIVITIES OF ORGANISMS SENSITIVITY TO ANTHROPO- GENIC INFLUENCES LEGALLY PROTECTED AREAS

TECHNICAL CONCEPT/ASPECT IN ORGANIZING ISLAND MARINAS TURISTIC PORTS Complete fitting into natural environment Maximum environment protection Using existing natural island bays and marinas with existing infrastructure Capacity according possibilities and needs of each location No permanent building economical temporary assembly solutions Anchorages on pontoons or anchorages by fours on buoyshore Protection of marina with floating wharfs against waves; as needed Alternative recyclable energy sources (wind, solar energy, desalinators) Organized everyday transport to selectioned garbage place

GOVERNING ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION Introducing system of governing environment ISO 14001:2000 Cooperation with Port Authority and local authorities for gethering of data about locations Comprehensive research when choosing a location (Hydrographic, Oceanographic, and Meteorological) Valorisation of locations by simulating possible changes in ecosystem Investing in ecological infrastructure (used oils tanks, sanitary sewage and garbage) ECO vessels for emergency interventions in case of possible pollutions Permanent supervision of quality of sea water and the shore through cooperation with local ECO patrols

PLANNED DEVELOPMENT ADVANTAGES Good supervision of the well preserved nature, through high ecological demands, with standardization of capacities up to the international standards, Realization of the untapped natural potential of islands and coast as well as of all regional and national economic resources along with slowing down the emigration from islands and accelerating employment, as well as the development of all activities complementary to nautical tourism.
