Check in begins at 3:00 p.m. and an evening meal will be provided between 5:30 and 7:30 pm for all arriving students. Class Days Check in to class no later than 7:45 a.m. on the first day of the course. Class days run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, plus one or two evening sessions each week. Students will spend some of their weekend time at clinical rotations. Departure Class ends before lunch on the last day of the course. Checkout is by 2:00 p.m. Lodging and Meals The College of the Siskiyous, Weed, CA is the site for the class, meals, and lodging during the WEMT course. Lodging You may check-in to your lodging at the Ponderosa Lodge s main office after 3:00 p.m. on the day prior to your course start date. From there you will receive your specific room assignment and information about the campus. Checkout is by 2:00 p.m. on your course end date. Accommodations are in gender-specific shared dormitory lodges with community bathrooms. Students will either be staying at the Ponderosa or Juniper Lodges. All students should check in at the main office in Ponderosa Lodge. Bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets) is provided, although we recommend bringing an extra blanket/sleeping bag. You will need to bring your own towels, along with your personal effects. Please be advised that the WEMT course is a no-alcohol, no-drugs course. No consumption or storage of alcohol is allowed on the site throughout the course. Students who violate the no-alcohol, no-drugs policy will be expelled with no refunds awarded. Meal Plan The meal plan includes three bountiful, healthy meals per day served buffet style Monday through Friday. Vegetarian options are available with each meal at no extra cost. If you require additional food, you will need to supplement with your own supplies.

Meals will not be served on weekends. There are no cooking facilities available on the weekend. On the days meals are not provided, grocery stores and restaurants are available in Weed. The last meal is breakfast on the final day of the course. Please indicate on the statement form you send back to NOLS Wilderness Medicine if you are vegetarian or vegan, so that we can communicate this to Dining Services prior to your arrival. Students with other special dietary needs should contact NOLS Wilderness Medicine at (866) 831-9001 or wilderness_medicine_wemt@nols.edu. Travel Driving/Flying: We encourage you to drive to the course if at all possible. Clinical rotations are up to a 90-minute drive from the facility. Students who do not drive will need to rely on classmates for transportation to the clinicals. If you decide to fly, the closest major airport is in Medford, OR about 60 miles from the College of the Siskiyous campus. A shuttle for the 90-minute trip from Medford to the college is available at 3:00 pm on the Sunday afternoon before the course begins. The cost of the shuttle is $75 round-trip. To ensure your spot on the shuttle, payment is due with your Shuttle Itinerary Form no later than 30 days from the course start. Students meet at the baggage carousel for the shuttle. Those arriving from Medford after 3:00 pm are responsible for their own transportation to the College of the Siskiyous. Students may also fly into Redding, CA.
