Leaving Ushuaia, we set sail for the Falkland and South Georgia Islands before heading into Antarctic waters and the infamous Drake Passage. Sail in the wake of polar explorers and see everything this incredible region has to o 埏 er on this 20-day expedition - the ultimate Antarctica experience. Travel Period - 26 November 2017 Duration - 20 Days Ship - MS Fram

Join an all-encompassing and well-rounded expedition cruising to both the sub Antarctic Islands and Antarctica Spend a number of invigorating days in South Georgia where the wildlife is rich and landscapes are astonishing Explore remote Antarctica mid-season where the penguins have arrived and are almost ready to hatch Join our extensive onboard programme including lectures on Antarctica's history, environment and wildlife Starting in Buenos Aires, you have the opportunity to discover the Paris of South America before embarking on MS Fram in Ushuaia, the world's southernmost town. From there, we set a course through the scenic Beagle Channel for the Drake Passage. We cross open sea before we reach the Falkland Islands with its seamless horizons, vast open spaces, stunning white sand beaches and a rich wildlife with penguins and albatrosses. Here, we first explore the northwest part before we continue to the capital Stanley, with its red buses and English pubs. Stanley is also the natural starting point for several excursions. Georgia

Captivating South Georgia On board lectures will prepare you for South Georgia, where we sail into the mountainous Drygalski Fjord at the southern end of the island to visit some of South Georgia s abandoned whaling stations. Then the lecture series will turn its focus on Antarctica including an introduction to the Antarctic visitor guidelines, as we approach the coldest, driest, windiest and most remote continent on Earth. Antarctica and the wonders of the Deep South Antarctica is a peaceful continent where man's primary activity is science. It has evolved through millennia without human interference; here, wild animals remain fearless of man. We will visit Whalers Bay, Half Moon Island and Brown Blu 埏, a landscape is dominated by a towering, rust-coloured blu 埏 of volcanic origin, next to a beach sprinkled with lava bombs. Smell, hear and see the rich penguin colonies, watch whales break the surface and always be prepared for the unexpected. The Expedition team will grasp opportunities to take you hiking in the arctic mountains, kayaking among icebergs or putting up a tent and following in the footsteps of the historical explorers. Returning back, we will once again sail through the Drake Passage, notorious among the early polar explorers, before disembarking in Ushuaia. Photo: Tommy Simonsen All aboard Location: Buenos Aires/Ushuaia Our flight leaves Buenos Aires in the morning which gives you a few hours to explore Ushuaia, the southernmost town in the world. Upon arrival in Ushuaia, you can join the optional excursions to the amazing Tierra del Fuego National Park before embarking MS Fram. DAY 3 Across open seas Location: The Drake Passage

We set course for the Falkland Islands located 480 km (300 mi) east of the southern tip of Argentina and approximately 1,000 km (600 mi) north of the South Shetland Islands in Antarctica. Enjoy life on board and keep a lookout for wildlife or join our Expedition Team as they start our on board lecture series. DAY 4 Photo: Jesper Nielsen To remote farms Location: Falkland Islands The Falklands Islands consist of two large islands and around 700 smaller ones with an estimated population of 3,000 persons. As we reach the westernmost settled outposts in the Falklands you will see remote farms that have been family owned for six or seven generations. The sheep graze alongside immense colonies of albatross and rockhopper, king and macaroni penguins while predatory striated caracaras patrol overhead and upland geese forage at the water s edge. DAY 5

Photo: Marsel van Oosten Meet the penguins Location: The Falkland Islands The Falklands o 埏 er fantastically clear blue skies, seamless horizons, vast open spaces and stunning white sand beaches. Meeting the penguins, they will approach you close up, stop and take a glance, before continuing on their way in total disregard to your presence, giving you some great photo opportunities. Stanley, the islands capital, makes a wonderful starting point for the various excursions we o 埏 er in the area. The town is easy enough to discover on foot, as most shops and services are centred on the port. DAYS 6-7 Photo: Trond Gansmoe Johnsen Prepare for the wonders of South Georgia cean

Location: The Southern Ocean During the time at sea, our lecture series will help prepare you for the wonders of South Georgia. Our Expedition team is well versed in every facet of South Georgia, from its geology and glaciology to the mating rituals of Sooty albatross and King penguins, to the legends of the Norwegian whalers. DAY 8 Photo: Marsel van Oosten Magnificent scenery Location: South Georgia South Georgia has magnificent mountain scenery with glaciers and beaches teeming with wildlife. We plan to visit Fortuna Bay and some of South Georgia s abandoned whaling stations. DAY 9

Like no where else on Earth Location: South Georgia During our stay here, you will see Elephant seals lounge on the sand, fur seal pups race in and out of the water, albatross soar overhead, and King penguins can be seen in the thousands. DAY 10 Paying our respects Location: South Georgia You will also see some of South Georgia s abandoned whaling stations, a whaling museum, the Norwegian seaman s church, and the tiny graveyard where we can pay our

respects to the great Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. DAY 11 Learn about the Deep South Location: The Southern Ocean In addition to spotting for the magnificent wandering albatross and other seabirds, we continue our lecture series focusing on the history, environment, and wildlife of Antarctica. Our series includes a thorough introduction to the Antarctic visitor guidelines from the Antarctic Treaty and International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO). DAY 12

Photographer's dream Location: South Orkney The deserted South Orkney Islands are a photographer s dream with majestic snowcapped mountains, blue icebergs and endless wilderness. We will spend one day exploring these islands before sailing the Washington Strait to Coronation Island and Elephant Island. DAY 13 Closer to the Antarctic Peninsula Location: The Southern Ocean

On our way to the Antarctic Peninsula, you could look through your photos, relax, attend a lecture, watch the animal life or simply get ready for our arrival in Antarctica. DAYS 14-17 Photo: Dominic Barrington Without human interference Location: Antarctica Antarctica is a continent dedicated to peace and science. We are visiting a place that has evolved through millennia without human interference, a place where wildlife remains fearless of man. When opportunities arise we will launch our kayaks, pitch tents ashore and take you on unforgettable hikes to explore the most beautiful, untouched places on the planet. On Deception Island a portion of the caldera wall has collapsed and created a navigable opening into the flooded interior. As we reach the natural harbour inside the island we will also visit Whalers Bay. Staggeringly photogenic and blessed with some of the most spectacular Antarctic scenery imaginable, Half Moon Island is a glittering gem amongst these island treasures. The strong currents of the Weddell Sea conspire to bring massive flat-topped bergs north into the Antarctic Sound. Brown Blu 埏 has, as the name suggests, a landscape dominated by a towering, rust-coloured blu 埏 of volcanic origin and is home to a beach sprinkled with lava bombs.

DAY 18 Bow pointed north Location: The Drake Passage After some magnificent days exploring Antarctica, MS Fram heads north and we make our way back to the South American continent. DAY 19

Reminisce on the expedition Location: The Drake Passage Sailing to Ushuaia at the southern tip of Argentina takes 40 hours in good weather. We will continue our lecture series and recap our experiences of Antarctica. DAY 20 The end of the adventure Location: Ushuaia / Buenos Aires We make landfall in Tierra del Fuego. Your voyage ends in the world s southernmost town, Ushuaia, and your journey back continues with a flight to lively Buenos Aires. 130 B Jodhpur Park, Ground Floor, Kolkata -700068.W.B.INDIA info@expeditionvoyages.in ( 91 33 2473 8096 / 91 44 42121575 John: +91 9830053005 / Shanthini : +91 9283190875
