Welcome to the Saville Community Sports Centre! Facility Amenities: Our facility boasts a number of world class amenities which include: Competition Gym 22,000 square feet of multipurpose space suitable for sporting events, trade shows and banquets with permanent bleacher seating for 2,500 people. Ortona Gymnastics Club features a variety of Olympic-standard equipment, including spring gymnastics floor, spring tumbling floor, trampoline, foam pits, ropes, bars, rings, beams, vaults, numerous tumbling training aids and a second floor family viewing area. Curling Rink 10 sheets of championship quality ice with viewing area in the Balmoral Lounge. Other amenities include: 24 volleyball courts, 30 badminton courts, 12 basketball courts, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, meeting room space, fitness and lifestyle centre, indoor track and multipurpose activity spaces. You can contact us by phone at 780-492-1000 or by email at savillesports@ualberta.ca For emergency first aid assistance during events, please contact our Operations Staff at 780-691-3315 Customer Service Hours of Operation (GO Sports): Fall/Winter (Sept to May) 6:30am to 10pm (weekdays), 7:30am to 10pm (Sat), 7:30am to 9pm (Sun) Spring/Summer (June to August) 7:30am to 10pm (weekdays), 730am to 10pm (Sat), 7:30am to 9pm (Sun) Note: Building will be open 9am-9pm on statutory holidays unless open for special event. Hours may change due to special events. Closed Dec 25th and Jan 1st. Parking: The Saville Community Sports Centre (SCSC) is conveniently located at the South Campus LRT station. Parking is free for facility users but may be limited due to the volume of several sports and activities happening at the SCSC. Overflow parking lots are accessible on evenings and weekends only; these areas are located at the nearby government lots east of the SCSC. NO park & ride, NO overnight parking and NO RV parking, illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed and towed. Please review the South Campus map in this package which identifies parking areas near the SCSC. Be prepared to walk a short distance from car parks. Disability parking is available in all car parks. Bus Parking: Due to the large volume of people using the facility bus parking is not available, buses are to park off site. Public Transportation: The SCSC is located at the South Campus LRT station, which is the recommended method of transportation. Locker Rooms: Locker rooms are located on the main floor of the facility. They feature 200 plus lockers available at a cost of $1.00/use. In addition, there are individual changing stalls, 12 showers and 2 accessible showers. Separate change rooms are available for officials using the building. Team and officials locker rooms are also available for use during special events. Please refer to appendix Venue Map for location. Pet Information: Service dogs are welcome but pets are not permitted in the SCSC. Exceptions require written permission and are at the discretion of facility manager. Theft: Unfortunately, theft does occur. If this does happen in the facility, please inform the SCSC Staff immediately. University Protective Services will be contacted to document the occurrence. Please note: The University is not liable for theft or lost items. To decrease the chance of theft, do not leave valuables unattended in public locations. Courtesy Phones: Public courtesy phones are located in the SCSC by gym #1 & #5 and both customer service desks. Gymnasium/Activity Space Code of Conduct: 1. Please remove outside shoes before entering the gymnasium. 2. Food and beverages should be consumed prior to entering the gymnasium and studio space. 3. All footwear must have non-marking soles. Sandals or open toed shoes are prohibited in all program areas. 4. Groups using the facility are responsible for any lost or damaged equipment. 5. Please respect the floor and keep the gymnasiums and building clean. 6. Groups may be charged a cleaning fee if the space is left in an unreasonable or unclean condition. Groups are encouraged to use the garbage bins provided and assist with the clean-up of their area. 7. No tape of any kind is to be used on any floors or walls; this includes gyms, hallways, meeting rooms etc. Damages will be charged back to the group. 8. Hanging on rims, nets or backboards is not permitted. 9. Courtesy rules: please ensure that your group does not enter the gymnasium/studio before your start time as indicated on the contract (any and all set-up must be done during your booking time). Also, ensure that you are finished at the time your booking ends as per the contract (any clean-up/take-down/wrap-up must be done during your booking time). 10. Please note: facility rentals include standard equipment (poles & nets) but does not include balls or additional equipment. First Aid: The facility has a legal responsibility to ensure that the appropriate number of persons with adequate first aid expertise are present in the facility. There will be at least one facility staff member with standard first aid certification present during smaller events (less than 200 people). Events with more than 200 participants or spectators are required to have a dedicated first-aid responder with standard first aid & level C CPR with AED training. For certain higher risk events, the facility manager may require additional trained staff and/or staff trained at a higher level. The contracting group and the facility manager will review the level of first aid coverage required prior to the event date. First aid services may be provided by an outside service provider at the expense of the event organizer. Event Youth Supervision: Event organizers must ensure youth athletes under the age of 18 have adult supervision at all times. There are to be no warm-ups, running, or playing with equipment outside of the court space provided to the event (no warming up in hallways, indoor track or other gymnasiums). Please ensure the space is cleared of any garbage, water bottles, and bags at the end of the booking time. Lastly, ensure athletes are not congregating in congested areas of the facility during breaks. Groups may be charged a cleaning fee if the space is left in an unreasonable or unclean condition. Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi is available for facility users through the @UofAGuest public wireless network, just log on and accept the conditions. Ice: Bagged ice is available by gym #1 and in the SCSC East foyer. Water: There are several public water fountains and water bottle filling stations located throughout the SCSC. SCSC Bottled Water: The Saville Community Sports Centre now offers SCSC branded bottled water that can be purchased in bulk for special events, for more information please contact Susan Lenio at susan.lenio@ualberta.ca 780-492-7678. ATM Machines: The SCSC has multiple ATM machines, two located by the competition gym and one in the Balmoral Lounge. Please review appendix Venue Map Food Services: Orange Julius/Dairy Queen and The Sub Shop are located on the main floor along with a number of coin operated vending machines. Hat Tricks restaurant is located in the Balmoral Lounge accessible from the second floor pedway or through the main east entrance. All catering and food service occurring in the building must be approved prior to the event. Requests must be confirmed by our in-house catering company: Hat Tricks 780-492-6786 events@hattricksrestaurant.com. Orders must be booked 7 days in advance and accurate numbers of attendees must be provided to Hat Tricks 72 hours prior to the event start date. External Food: Food preparation is not permitted in the facility. Coolers, large containers or boxes of food are not allowed in the facility. Sponsors: The event must comply with the Facility sponsor policy, please visit our website for more information. Event Merchandise: Event specific merchandise and tournament branded merchandise may be sold and would need approval from the facility manager to ensure no conflicts with Facility sponsors.
