How to Get There BY AIR Air New Zealand operates flights from Sydney and Brisbane via Auckland twice a week. Check with your travel agent for the best connecting flights. Virgin Australia operates direct flights to Nadi daily from Brisbane and Sydney and three to four days a week from Melbourne. Pacific Sun (Air Pacific) operates flights from Nadi to regional airports within Fiji including Nausori (Suva), Labasa, Savusavu, Taveuni and Kadavu. ATMs are located in major urban areas. All major credit cards are widely accepted. Visas and Passports All travellers must carry a valid passport. It must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of departure. A visa is not required for stays of up to four months. Travellers must also hold a return or onward ticket. Departure Tax A Departure Tax of FJD200 per person applies. Children 0 to 11 years are exempt. Air New Zealand include this cost in your airline ticket. Tipping and Bargaining Tipping is not encouraged in Fiji. Bargaining is generally not encouraged, however may be acceptable with some Indo-Fijian merchants. Etiquette Dress modestly when outside your hotel or resort and remove hats and sunglasses when visiting villages. Ladies should cover knees and shoulders when visiting temples and villages. Blue Lagoon Found in the Yasawa Islands, the famous Blue Lagoon area is the most stunning you ll ever see. All shades of blue are surrounded by crisp white sand and soft rolling peaks of green. Discover the majestic Sawa-i-lau Caves and snorkel the coral reefs in the area. The movie Blue Lagoon was filmed here and you ll soon see why! (see pages 14 and 15 for details) 3. Village Visits Visit authentic Fijian villages and get a glimpse of this unique culture. Take part in a traditional kava ceremony, meet smiling children and see handicrafts being made. (see page 19 for details) 4. Snorkelling and Diving With over 10,000 square kilometres of underwater coral gardens, Fiji is a sanctuary for snorkellers and divers.
