Verde Canyon Railroad provides a 20-mile, four-hour, roundtrip wilderness adventure through a wild and scenic river canyon only accessible by rail. Groups enjoy comfort and style, exceptional amenities and outstanding service while traveling in vintage rail cars on a century-old route through a red rock paradise that hugs the tracks along the Verde River. Year-round REASONS TO RIDE Ancient Sinagua Indian cliff dwellings and relics of early pioneers have left their indelible mark along the route. The train passes through astonishing remnants of a booming copper industry which shaped the valley. Historic trestles, bridges and a 680-foot manmade tunnel highlight travel. Unusual rock formations, red rock pinnacles and towering crimson cliffs embrace the rails. Majestic bald eagles, falcons and hawks float effortlessly on canyon breezes. Indigenous wildlife, including javelina, mule deer, antelope, bear and wild burros are often seen trackside.
UNRIVALED PASSENGER Accommodations First class features living room-style seating, a Champagne or sparkling cider toast upon boarding, premium beverage service at one s seat and complimentary appetizers. Coach class has historic Pullman-style seating on each side of a center aisle and a snack bar. First Class Coach Class Open-air Car Both classes have panoramic windows, restrooms, connect to open-air viewing platforms and are climate controlled. Each passenger has two seats for the price of one. Throughout the trip, the captivating history of the Railroad and Canyon unfolds in narration spiced with a variety of railroad tunes. Depending on group size, exclusive train cars, or an entire train charter, is available. An extended food and beverage service including a customized menu with signature Southwestern cocktails and/or non-alcoholic beverages is available. Special tasting events such as Chocolate Lovers Special, Grape Train Escape, Tequila Sunset Limited, Ales on Rails Oktoberfest-style beer garden is available.
The John Bell Museum, part of the depot complex, is home to the train s amazing history and the communities that were shaped with the arrival of the railroad. RAILTASTIC LUNCH VOUCHERS Preordered lunches receive a special group rate. The lunch voucher allows each group member to choose a complete lunch (hot or cold) from a diverse menu at the Copper Spike Café located in the depot. Lunches may be enjoyed on a canopied patio or packaged to be eaten on the train. With preordered lunches, one complimentary lunch is provided for escort and bus driver. The Boxcar Gift Shop has a great selection of memorabilia and a variety of items made by local, regional and national artists. Shipping is available! Arizona s Liberty Wildlife Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Center provides seasonal educational programs both at the depot and onboard the train. On select days, groups may be able to interact with rescued raptors. EXCLUSIVE GROUP SERVICE Buses are greeted upon arrival by a Railroad representative with group members boarding passes in hand. An easy unloading and loading area for passengers is adjacent to the train depot. Spacious motorcoach parking. Groups board the train before other passengers. Storyboards overflowing with details on the Verde Canyon, pioneer spirit and railroad lore are installed along the quarter-mile length of the depot s loading platform.
