Conference Theme and Objectives Theme Balancing National Development and Environmental Protection Objectives As with our four previous conferences the JIEP aims to provide a forum to examine the issues related to its conference theme guiding principles and objectives of Jamaica s national development associated environmental considerations policies in place for environmental protection and how these policies will achieve the balance for sustainable development.
Conference Themes Theme 1: National Development National goals, education, health, security, economic development, energy, communication and governance Theme 2: Environmental Issues Affecting National Development Land use, use of environmental/natural resources, hazards and risks, climate change adaptation Theme 3: Environmental Management and Protection Protected areas, heritage conservation, culture, threats to environmental management/protection Theme 4: Achieving the Balance Policy/sector plans laws, national strategies, development challenges, international competitiveness, governance structure, monitoring and evaluation.
