General Useful Information for Participants The First Pacific Islands Capacity Building Workshop on Child Online Protection (COP) will be held from 23 rd to 24 th September 2014 at Farea Pacific Conference Room Warwick Le Lagon Resort & Spa Port Vila, Vanuatu The Commonwealth National Cybersecurity Framework Regional Workshop will be held on the 22 nd of September 2014. Participants are also welcomed and encouraged to join the meeting on building a child online protection national strategy for Vanuatu on 25 th to 26 th September 2014. The regional meeting is being organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in close collaboration with the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO), International Multilateral Partnership against Cyberthreats (IMPACT) and is kindly hosted by the Telecommunications & Radiocommunications Regulator of Vanuatu (TRR) and Office of the Government Chief Information Officer of Vanuatu (OGCIO). Transfer from Bauerfield International Airport to Hotels Bauerfield International Airport is located approximately 6kms (10 minute drive) away from Port Vila, the Capital city of Vanuatu and the location of major hotels. Any requests after that may not be adequately provided for. Alternatively, approximate taxi fare from the airport to Port Vila centre is 2000VT (USD21) or bus fare is 150VT (USD2) per person for all destinations within Port Vila. 5. Visa & Immigration Requirements People from countries from which entry into Vanuatu is authorised may not need a visa for short term visits. You must have a valid, ongoing or return airline ticket and your passport must be valid for six months beyond your intended stay. Click here for Immigration & Visa Permits. 6. Departure Tax VUV 2,500 per person (over 12 years) at the International Airport which is included in airfares. A separate domestic departure fee of 200v applies for departures from specific domestic terminals and is not included in fares, but paid separately 7. Climate Vanuatu s climate is tropical all year round, with two distinct seasons the cooler/drier season running from May to October and the wetter/hotter season from November to April. Average daily temperature is 29 degrees Celsius. Light weight clothing plus a sweater is usually sufficient, year round. 8. Electricity Electricity is 230 volts AC 50 Megahertz with 3 flat pins plug (like the ones we find in Australia and New Zealand). You are advised to take along your universal adaptor if you are from any other country with dissimilar plug and voltages. 9. Currency Vatu (VT) is the local currency. Exchange rates vary around USD 1.00 = VUV 95.50 Check Online Currency Converter on www.xe.com Banks established in Vanuatu include: ANZ, Westpac, National Bank, Pacific Bank. Foreign cash, traveller s cheques and credit cards are widely accepted in Port Vila. 10. Time Zone Local time in Vanuatu is GMT/UTC +11. There is no daylight saving in summer. - 7 -

11. Telecommunications Services Communication services in Vanuatu include fixed line telephony, internet, and GSM mobile phone & data services. Telecom Vanuatu Ltd (TVL) is the major service provider of fixed line telephony. GSM Mobile services are provided by Telecom Vanuatu Ltd and Digicel Vanuatu Ltd. Internet Service Providers include Telecom Vanuatu Ltd, Digicel Vanuatu Ltd, Telsat Broadband Ltd and Sky Cloud. Local networks offer roaming to most developed countries including some Pacific Islands countries. Prepaid SIM cards may be available at the conference venue. Internet: Internet Access will be provided at the Conference site and is available at the hotels. 12. Dress Code Island smart casual / Business smart casual. Recommend no suits and ties. 13.
