DIRECTOR S CORNER Hey Everyone, May is going to be a great month as all that yellow stuff will be gone and anyone with allergies can now get out and ride and breathe without problems. We are going to have a new Marketing and Events Coordinator at Harley-Davidson of Atlanta as Renee Nichols is moving to an administrative job with the dealership. We all wish Renee the best of luck, she has been and I m sure will continue to be an asset to our chapter. Our new Marketing and Events Coordinator is Ashley Wiley. She was introduced at the April meeting on the 19 th. We look forward to working with you Ashley. I came across this article and thought I would share it. MOTORCYCLE SAFETY AWARENESS MONTH May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. With warmer weather, it s time to remind everyone to be on the alert and to share the road with motorcyclists. Riders who have been cooped up all winter are excited to be out on the road again, but that shouldn t stop them from using caution. Both motorcyclists and motorists need to be aware of their surroundings. Checking blind spots, mirrors and using turn signals are necessary when changing lanes and when passing. Distracted driving has been on the rise, too. Distractions during driving could mean the difference between seeing a motorcyclist or not when preparing to change lanes. Don t let one text change anyone s life forever! Riders need to take precautions as well. Take a defensive driving course, wear protective gear and keep your bike in its best working condition. Also, be aware of any road hazards and dangerous weather conditions. Most of all, enjoy your ride and make it home again! Mike Round-A-Bout Laymon, Director
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR S CORNER As we head into May, some of us have been to HOT (H.O.G. Officer Training) where we went through several different classes with other Chapter Officer s from across the country and the HOG Officers from Milwaukee. These training classes help keep all of the officers informed on different subjects that we encounter within our chapter as well as direction from the Motor Company. After talking with the other Chapters, we really do have the BEST CHAPTER as well as an Awesome Relationship/ Support from Harley-Davidson of Atlanta (there are several Horror Stories out there from other Chapters). At the end of the month, the Great Smokey Mountain HOG Rally is in Maryville Tennessee with several rides to and from the Rally. Dates are May 29 th to June 2 nd. Hope to see you there!!! See you on the road!! Tom Pelican Rapp, Assistant Director

Chuck Fuller, HOGwash Editor Some of Georgia s peak riding season has started! May has been declared Motorcycle Awareness and You month. Please take time to try to raise awareness about sharing the road and watching out for motorcycles. We all have opportunities, whether it s a topic at lunch with coworkers or talking with family members about taking that second look before pulling onto a street. Look Twice, Save a Life! Remember to check in with Rene Durham and give her your mileage so we can add up all of our member miles to win the H.O.G. challenge Ride 365! See the details for Ride 365 on the following page. I know Dee would want me to mention what an excellent job our Road Captains and members alike are doing to get rides on the calendar and participating in those rides. As always we re looking for even more places to ride and more riding adventures. Consider putting a ride on the calendar, check the calendar and our FB page for upcoming rides and events, attend some rides and let s keep our knees in the breeze! Ride on! Chuck Fuller

Message from H-D Atlanta Hello Hoggies! O what a glorious Spring we re having at H-D Atlanta! The flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, and the engines are revving. It was so nice to have April s Bike Night outside for the first time since October. The Brandon Wylie Band brought out a humongous crowd and the HOG Chapter cooked 440 hot dogs! Thank you to everyone that volunteered to help make it such a big success. Did you know that we ve just received 10 brand new 2018 Demo Bikes?? We ve tricked them out with some of the latest and greatest parts & accessories that Harley has to offer. Just contact sales to schedule a test ride. We also have a big selection of Riding Gear that is available for you to test out on your own bike. Ask Heather in Motorclothes how you can try out the newest 3-in-1 Pilot helmet. It goes from a full face, to a three-quarter, to a half helmet in to time! Don t forget that April 1 st started the second quarter Mileage Contest. The Chapter member that rides the most miles on official Chapter rides will win a $250 HDA Gift Card*! Mike Laymon was the winner of the first quarter. Even with the horrible January weather, he managed to get in 12 rides for a total of 1,380 miles! (*rules are simple must be on a motorcycle and must be an official Chapter ride. In the event of a tie, the rider with the longest ride will be the winner.) As you may have already heard, I have been offered another position in administration and will slowly be stepping away from the Marketing/Events Coordinator role. Ashley Wiley will be taking over the reigns. She has worked for a couple of other dealerships and has tons of experience putting together great events. I am confident that she will seamlessly take over and help grow our events while developing a close relationship with the Atlanta HOG Chapter. Continued on following page
