APPENDIX A Maps & Overlays

HOW TO USE THE FOLLOWING MAPS AND S: Several lessons instruct you to use the maps in this Appendix. 1. 2. 3. 4. First, make a transparency of each map required for the activity. The transparency of the Watershed Map of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin is the base map. It should always be laid down on the overhead projector first. The activity may require one additional map transparency or overlay to be placed on top of the base map, or it may require multiple overlays to be placed on top of the base map. Be creative. Instruct your students to find relationships between and among overlays not mentioned in the activities. The following is a list of overlays found in this Appendix: Elevation in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Vegetation of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Soils of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Geologic Formations of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Rainfall in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Water Pollution in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Public Land Use in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Coastal Wetlands in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin - 1950s Coastal Wetland Loss in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin - 1990s Land Use in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin - 1950s Land Use Changes in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin - 1990s Cities of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Historical Native American Sites of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin
