Box 37724 Shreveport, LA 71133 F RO M THE PRESIDENT S DESK Last month I managed to get to Colliers Customs and Hot Rods for their monthly cruise in. The weather was actually quite nice, almost no humidity and the temperature was maybe 90 Degrees. That was in that 2 week span of awesome weather we had when a small cold front came through and cooled things off. Surprisingly, not many car enthusiasts came out to take advantage of the great weather. We had about 6 Club members come out and had all kinds of cars in and out of the parking lot the whole evening. We got to check out not only the cars that came to the cruise in, but also the cars on display in the show room. They have some pretty nice cars for sale, even a couple of Mustangs and Fords to drool over. Last weekend was Breakfast and Fast rides at Denny s on Mansfield Road. We had quite a turn out for that show, filling up the back party room and spilling out into the dining room. We had several club members come out in force, along with some of the Mopar guys, the Southern Nights Corvette club, and even the SVT Lightning club came out with 3 nice trucks to check out. It was back to hot and humid that day, so we spent most of our time inside eating breakfast and visiting with everyone. This month is our 20th annual Mustang Roundup and Ford Show at Wray Ford. We have only 2 weeks left before the big show, and we are ready to go. We need folks to come out early and help us set up as well as actually run the show, so if you want to get an early start, come out and meet us at 6am Saturday morning for breakfast. Our traditional spot for breakfast, Beams restaurant no longer opens for breakfast on Saturday, so we have made arrangements to meet at Southfield Grill on Benton Road which is closer to Wray Ford at the usual time of 6am. So come on out and get a nice hearty home cooked breakfast with the rest of the club and then we can all cruise to the show at 7am to set up. Many of you have been in this club a long time and know what needs to be done. Those of you who are new to the club, don t hesitate to come out and help out. We will need help setting up pop up canopies, our big top canopy out in front of the dealership by the side entrance, many tables and chairs, and of course we have to off load everything out of the trailer in order to set up. Once we get set up, then there is getting cars parked as they arrive, registration, handing out goody bags, t shirts, door prizes, and everything that goes along with registration. Once we get everyone parked and registered it will be a quick lunch, then on to judging. If you have not judged a car show before, get with any of our seasoned members who will explain that we judge each car on cleanliness and upkeep. We are not checking for matching serial numbers, or correct year parts, just having fun admiring and getting up close and personal with some fantastic Stangs. Finally, when the show is over, we will need help with breakdown, and when everybody helps out, we can have everything broken down and loaded back in the trailer in 30 minutes or less. The objective is to leave the Wray Ford property exactly the way we found it, if not cleaner. This is our 20th show this year, and each year it gets better and better. People come from miles away for our show and they come back every year, which says something about how we run it. Without the help of the membership, we would not be able to do this every year. So come on out Saturday morning, join us for breakfast, or if a morning meal isn t your thing, you can meet up with us at Wray at 7am. Either way, it will be a great day for a car show.

Page 2 Dear RRCMC Members, Due to personal reasons, I must resign my position as Vice President of the Red River Classic Mustang Club. This is a Great Club with Great People doing Great Things. Your current Board of Directors are great people. Please continue to give them the support as you have in the past. I am resigning 100% because of personal reasons. I love being a member of this fantastic club and will continue my membership in the club. The Pony Express I ask anyone interested in participating in running this Great Organization to please step up and fill my position. You will find it an enjoyable experience and get to witness and help decide what happens behind the scenes to make all of the events and operation of the club continue to support this Great organization. If you want more information on what it takes to hold the Vice President position, please feel free to talk to me. It is really the best position in the club. Mark Winderweedle On that note, Officer Elections are held at the December Club meeting. The current Board members have all served for several years and would not be offended by anyone willing to serve. Anyone interested in a Board position please submit a short platform to be printed in the November newsletter with the ballot. All Board positions are open for anyone that has been a Club member in good standing for one full year or longer. The Club welcomes fresh ideas and new leadership. The Pony Express S H OW NEWS As of today, our Show is only TWO WEEKS AWAY!!!!! I could still use a few more goody bag stuffers. We haven t received anywhere near as much advertising swag from sponsors as we have in past years. We could really use anything you can get from local businesses. If you have anything to donate, please get it to Lane by September 14, earlier if possible. We need to have everything sorted and organized before goody bag stuffing on the 15th. There will be a goody bag stuffing at the VFW on Sunday, September 15 at 3 p.m. Please come join the assembly line and then a possible cruise to eat and socialize! In addition to goody bag stuffers, we REALLY need door prizes. You do not need to purchase items yourself. You can ask businesses to donate goods and/or services. Restaurant gift cards are always great too! Page 3 Show day is a lot of fun but also a lot of work. I still need a LOT of volunteers to sign up to work the Show. Please look over the sign-up sheet Nicole has and help out where you can. Shifts for the various jobs are 8-12 and 12-4. Tommy Gayer agreed to be in charge of parking again this year and he will need quite a few helpers. It is the one shift that starts prior to 8am but ends as soon as all cars are parked. So, again, please sign up if you can help. This really needs to be a Club effort for a successful Show. Last, but not least, if you haven t entered yet, what are you waiting for! Thanks, Erin
