DAY 01: CUSCO, INCA CAPITAL, CITY TOUR The first day, at your arrival, it is recommended to make a city tour, in order to have the time to acclimate to the altitude. Our agency organizes this tour every afternoon. We will pick you up at your hotel between 1.00 or 1.30 pm. You will discover the beautiful downtown of Cusco, the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the Sun Temple Qoricancha. Then we will drive to the surroundings of the city to visit the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puca Pucara, Tambomachay and the viewpoint of the city of Cusco, from where you will have a majestic panorama. We will then take you back to your hotel between 6 : 00h. and 6: 30pm DAY 02: PISAQ INCA VILLAGE AND ITS TRADITIONAL MARKET Your day to the Sacred Valley begins when you meet your guide at your Cusco hotel for the journey out into the mountains. While enjoying your comfortable, private transport, you'll learn why the Sacred Valley was such an important place for the Inca, as it served as a fertile place to grow crops and safe passage to the jungle. On your hike along the "Short Inca Trail," you'll pass by archaeological sites that date to the early Inca, and see terraces, ruins, and temples that offer more info about life in the empire. Take a deep breath and enjoy the sweeping, snowcapped mountain scenery, and stop to think how you're walking the same trails as Inca warriors and farmers. After following your guide on the ancient trails, emerge at the colorful town of Pisaq where you'll enjoy some free time grabbing lunch and wandering the festive markets. Pisaq is a longtime trading outpost, and many of the merchants you'll find here today still sell their wares at the local market like their early Inca ancestors.
After a full day of experiencing ruins and exploring around Pisaq, your tour finishes around 4pm when you're dropped back at your Cusco hotel. DAY 03: MOUNTAIN BIKE IN THE SACRED VALLEY; MARAS MORAY TOUR We leave Cusco by bus at 9:00 a.m., with the direction to Chinchero (30 minutes to get here), small village that retains the layout of the streets of the Inca edge, and several buildings dating from this time. From here we go by bike in the direction of the Lake Huaypo, before discovering the agricultural site of Moray, the Maras colonial village and then the salt mines of Maras, where we will see the process of salt recollection, precious mineral during the Inca edge and then at the time of the colony. Later we will complete our circuit by a beautiful descent to the village of Urubamba, at the bottom of the Valley, by the sacred river Vilcanota. Finally, we find our car that will bring us to ollantaytambo where we pass the night, This excursion of about 35 km bicycle, in small paths without difficulties will leave you an unforgettable memory Approximately time of the tour: 6 hours Approximately Disctance of the biking tours: 35km DAY 04: MACHUPICCHU OLLANTAYTAMBO We will leave our hotel early in the morning after breakfast and head for Machu Picchu by train, this trip will take us about 1 h 45 m. once we get to the Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu town) we take the bus directly to the entrance of Machupicchu Citadel (2400m/7874f), we pass the checkpoint and we visit the Citadel, the tour is gonna take you more than 2 hours then you have time to visit Machupicchu by yourself exploring this amazing place, In case that you have Huaynapicchu or Machupicchu Mountain let us know before to fix the prefect time for your visit of Machupicchu and give time for these places.
We recommend also to visit the sun gate which is a nice spot where you have a panoramic view of Machupicchu, you don t need an entrance or pay for it, ask to our guide how to get there. In the Afternoon we will leave Aguas Calientes by train. Until then, you will have time to have lunch in one of the nice restaurants. Moreover, you can visit the hot springs in Aguas Calientes to relax a bit, after the train we get to Ollantaytambo to pass another night. Approximately time of the tour: 2 hours Train Travel time: 3 hours (Round Trip) DAY 05: DOWHILL IN LARES; LARES PASS (4470m/14665ft) LARES HOT SPRINGS From Lares pass at 4470 masl Spectacular scenery, varied native flora and fauna and fast downhill are the highlights of this route, departure from Ollantaytambo at 7 am to visit Calca village. After that we will continue by bus to Lares pass the highest point located at 4470 m.a.s.l. this is the place of departure with our bikes and professional guide a very exciting day, the desolate terrain of the highlands, covered only with straw (Andean grass), and the snow-capped mountains are the scenery to start our tour down along the isolated bus route. We will pass across a canyon, rivers, bridges on the way we will see Andean animals, like llama, alpaca, vicuna, birds etc. Pass through small villages that wear their traditional clothings and are dedicated to agriculture and livestock inherited from their ancestors.
