Lions Camp offers loads of FUN in a SAFE environment for children in grades K-8. Our Lions Athletic & Specialty Camps, as well as our flagship rec camp, Camp Courage, offer a variety of activities to keep all campers active while having a great summer. Camp Courage provides campers with all your favorite camp traditions, plus the best counselors and a beautiful campus. Each day Camp Courage offers a range of age-appropriate games on the field and in the gym, arts and crafts, lunch, exciting field trips, and the chance to make new friends and memories all summer long. Camp Courage programming runs from 9am to 4pm and after care is included from 4pm to 6pm. Cost: $150 per week Specialty Camps run each morning from 9am to 12pm daily providing a variety of special interest programming for all ages. Cost: $100 per week Lion Athletics Camps run afternoons from 3pm to 6pm daily providing opportunities for campers to experience a new sport or for experienced players to hone their skills. Cost: $100 per week Half-Day Camp provides an opportunity for Lions Athletic & Specialty campers to add lunch and either a morning or afternoon of Camp Courage to create a full day experience. Cost: $65 per week Before Camp is provided each morning from 7am to 9am for an additional fee. Cost: $25 a week per camper. Snack Shack times for all Lions Camp campers are 10-10:30am and 2-2:30pm. Campers will have the opportunity to purchase daily snacks through an account system. ALL Lions Camp campers must pay a one-time per summer registration fee of $50. Lions Service Week will help campers in grades 6-8 identify the servant qualities of Jesus Christ through daily study, and then put into practice His command to GO and spread His Word by serving and reaching out to others. Trips would be taken each day to put into practice those things that were studied in the classroom each morning. Cost: Free

WEEK #1 JUNE 6-10 9 AM - 12 PM Little Picassos: Grades K-2 Sonja Davis Campers will discover new techniques by observing the art of famous illustrators and artists. Each day they will apply these observations and make art of their own through exploration and creativity. Campers need to wear old clothing and bring a large white poster board on the first day. Spanish (Intermediate): Grades 6-8 Jen Gomez Learn about cultural aspects of the twenty-one countries that make up the Spanish-speaking world. Themes include: sports, human body and medicine, electronics and technology, music, professions, and food. We will build vocabulary and common expressions for everyday use. Most importantly, we will have FUN! Office 365 Lab: Grades 6-8 Nathaniel Branscome Many academic institutions seek ta educate students on the latest and most relevant technologies, and our Windows Lab is being created lo do just that. We will be exploring and validating students IT knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel. OneDrive and Outlook Groups. WEEK #1 JUNE 6-10 3 PM - 6 PM Soccer Camp: Grades K-8 Sonja Davis Campers will learn basic soccer techniques and skills as well as apply those skills to game situations. Each day will include skills, games, scripture, and scrimmages. Campers need to wear cleats, shin guards, a large water bottle, and bring their own soccer ball with their name on it. Please have campers bring regular tennis shoes as well in case we are indoors due to inclement weather.
WEEK #2 JUNE 13-17 9 AM - 12 PM Chef Camp: Grades K-5 Kim Green Campers will learn basic skills for preparing simple meals in the kitchen. They will learn how to use utensils and knives properly while learning how to properly measure ingredients listed in a recipe. Meet the Masters: Grades 3-5 Sonja Davis Campers will learn about famous artists, their works and techniques. They will learn to apply those techniques and produce a masterpiece every day. Techniques to be covered are watercolor, chalk, pastels, acrylic paints and much, much more! Campers will need to wear old clothing that can get messy, they will need a large white poster board that we will transform into an art folder on the first day to store their artwork. The Rise of the Superhero: Grades 6-8 Ellison Cooper Last year we focused on the origins of Superhero culture. This year we will focus on the continued dominance of Superheroes in American culture. We will compare Marvel vs. DC comics and trends that are emerging in the comic book world. We will also focus on the anti hero movement and take a look at some of the more dynamic villain story lines. On Friday we will go on a field trip to see X Men Apocalypse!!!! WEEK #2 JUNE 13-17 3 PM - 6 PM Basketball Camp: Grades 2-8 Lenny Castaneda Lion Basketball camp provides quality instruction in all phases of the game, including individual skill development, team concepts, sportsmanship and self-confidence in a positive and fun atmosphere to boys and girls in grades 2 through 8. Campers will participate in daily skill competitions and daily games to put their practice to the test.
WEEK #3 JUNE 20-24 9 AM - 12 PM Princess Camp (Girls): Grades K-2 Donna Carr Tiaras and Tutus, Castles and Crafts, Tea and a Ball are the delight of every little Princess! This camp has everything little girls love pretend, music, dress up, a tea party, princess stories and crafts! The young ladies will spend their time learning etiquette, serving others, building self-esteem and exploring what it means to be a daughter of the King of Kings! The highlight of our week will be a royal tea party- followed by a butterfly release to remind us we are a new creation in Christ- A true Princess of the King. Energy Kids: Grades K-5 Ann Burton Campers will enjoy routines set to fun music to stretch, dance, kick, punch, and hop. They will experience the benefits of balance, coordination, and flexibility while learning the advantages of eating right, staying active, and making healthy choices. Lions Rock N Roll (Beginning): Grades 6-8 York Martin Be a rock star for a week! This contemporary band experience will teach the fundamentals of reading musical notation and charts. Students will receive instruction in guitar, drums, piano, vocals, and music theory. They will learn the skills necessary to gain the ability to play in a band with peers. This contemporary band experience will enhance the fundamentals of reading musical notation and charts for intermediate musicians and singers. Students will receive instruction in guitar, drums, piano, vocals, and music theory to sharpen the skills needed to play in a band with peers. They will also gain beginner s knowledge in recording engineering and songwriting. Around the World in 5 Days: Grades 6-8 Miranda McKinney Jane Wallace Each day, through hands on activities and technololgy, you will be immersed in a new country s culture, explore traditions, experience the arts, taste loca cuisine, learn phrases, and develop and understanding of each country s religious practices. Adventure awaits! WEEK #4 JUNE 27 - JULY 1 3 PM - 6 PM Flag Football: Grades 4-8 Ben Warren Come join us for a week on the gridiron with our flag football sports camp. The camp will focus on both technique and fundamentals, along with full flag football games every day. The camp is led by our Upper School Principal, Ben Warren, who coached high school football in Miami, FL, for six years. Be sure to join us for a week playing the greatest sport in the world.
WEEK #5 JULY 5-8 9 AM - 12 PM Chess Camp: Grades 6-8 Ellison Cooper Chess camp is for anyone interested in chess, from the novice to the young pros. During this week chess will be taught and played, a lot of chess will be played from timed tournaments to different types of chess. The main focus of the camp will be chess but we will also play other strategy needed games like Risk and Settlers of Catan. WEEK #6 JULY 11-15 9 AM - 12 PM American Girls (Girls): Grades 3-5 Dionna Scott Haley Scott The American Girl camp is designed to encourage girls to embrace the history of America through learning about the different American Girl dolls. The campers will be introduced to a new American Girl each day by learning about the time period through reading, crafts, foods, games, and fashion. Girls Guide to the Real World (Girls): Grades 6-8 Miranda McKinney Jane Wallace Practical. Enlightening. Empowering. Find out what it means to be a Proverbs 31 girl in today s world. Every day you will learn practical skills that will provide the necessary tools to be independent and successful. Themes include homemaker skills, respect for self and others, money management, cooking, and self-defense. Lions Explorer Camp (boys): Grades 6-8 Lenny Castaneda Lion s Explorers Camp will help educate young men on basic survival skills while visiting local natural areas. We will explore God s creation and discuss our responsibility as stewards of these natural resources. Some activities will include canoeing, hiking, and a scavenger hunt. WEEK #7 JULY 18-22 9 AM - 12 PM Godz Girls (Girls): Grades 3-5 Dionna Scott Haley Scott Godz Girlz camp is designed to encourage girls to seek their identity in Christ. The campers are also encouraged to know that God created each one of us unique and He wants us to take care of our physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. The campers will learn through games, crafts, devotions, worship, and prayer. Math Boot Camp: Grades 6-7 Lauren Speckin Lisa Jenkins This offering focuses heavily on the basic and foundational aspects of math with a more hands-on, real-life approach. This camp is the perfect way to introduce girls to the sport and get them active in a fun way!
WEEK #8 JULY 25-29 9 AM - 12 PM Lions Stem Den: Grades K-2 Donna Carr Come explore the worlds of science, technology, engineering and math! Every day campers will be performing experiments, mixing concoctions, building structures, and examining the world around them. WEEK #8 JULY 25-29 3 PM - 6 PM Lions Cheer Camp - Grades 3-5 Lizzie Broughton Lions Cheer Camp is open to girls who have completed grades 3-5. During this camp girls will work on the basics of cheerleading in a Christian environment. Skills taught will include jumps, basic to intermediate tumbling, cheers/chants, beginner to intermediate stunting, cheer dance and team work. This camp allows girls to be active in a fun way and experience the sport in a relaxed and fun environment.
WEEK #9 AUGUST 1-5 9 AM - 12 PM Middle School 101: Skills for Success: Grades 6-8 Amanda Carden Students in this camp will learn how good organizational skills, study habits, and time management can help them be more successful in middle school and beyond. Middle School 101 will include a variety of fun and engaging activities including games, self-assessments, creative activities, group discussions, and practical applications. Led by a licensed school counselor, this camp will have students excited about using the new skills and strategies to tackle the ever-increasing responsibilities and stress that middle schoolers face today. The Lion and Bull Stock Exchange: Grades 6-8 Ben Warren In this week-long specialty camp, we bring Wall Street to Winston Salem. Students will have the opportunity to learn about public corporations, the equities market, and even dabble with derivatives. Classroom instruction and stock market simulations will offer students a chance to play big, while also learning the importance of savings and moderation. Come join us for a week, and see if you have what it takes to make it on Wall Street. WEEK #9 AUGUST 1-5 3 PM - 6 PM Volleyball Camp (Girls): Grades 5-8 Hope Tillotson The purpose of Lions Volleyball Camp is to create an interest in and develop an appreciation for the sport of volleyball. Our goal is to work with new athletes on basic skill development and rules of volleyball, while focusing on refining skills with the seasoned athletes. We will create a positive environment where learning is taking place through teaching, peer-coaching, practice and game simulation.
