Fabulous Victoria Falls Three Nights exploring Victoria Falls. Post-cruise itinerary Day 1 Wednesday, 13 March 2019 Cape Town Upon disembarking the Crystal Serenity Cruise Ship, you will be taken on a city tour of Cape Town, starting with a drive by the Castle of Good Hope - the oldest building in South Africa, as well as the Military Museum and the William Fehr collection. The tour will continue onto Adderley Street it s the principal thoroughfare of Cape Town, and is renowned for its fine examples of old Cape architecture. We will also be passing the Company Gardens, the oldest garden in South Africa. Located within the gardens is the red-bricked House of Parliament, the South African National Gallery, the Jewish Museum and the Great Synagogue. Continue your tour and travel onto the Foreshore, an area of land, which was reclaimed during the construction of the present day harbour, known as Duncan Dock.
Next, you will be passing Green Point and continuing through Sea Point along the Atlantic seaboard suburbs to a scenically located venue to enjoy your choice of alcoholic or non-alcoholic cocktails severed with a variety of canapés. The tour will end at your hotel, where you can store your luggage until the official check-in time at 3:00pm. Later in the evening, you will enjoy a welcome dinner at one of the well-known restaurants in Cape Town. (main luggage will be handed over to a local representative at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and be sent to Cape Town. Guests will be reunited with their luggage at the cruise ship. Please do not pack passports, medicine or valuables.) Flight Cape Town > Victoria Falls On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, you will proceed to your hotel, The Victoria Falls Hotel. Upon your arrival, you will enjoy lunch, followed by check-in procedures. In the late afternoon, you will be met at the hotel by a local English-speaking representative and transferred to the Zambezi River for a Sunset Cruise on the Raikane - a small luxury cruise boat on the upper Zambezi that is out-fitted to suggest an ambiance of a bygone era. Following your cruise, return to the hotel and freshen up prior to dinner at the Livingstone Room (smart dress code). Day 3 Friday, 15 March 2019 Victoria Falls Following breakfast at the hotel restaurant, you will depart your hotel and make your way to Victoria Falls. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the falls. Victoria Falls presents a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River, forming the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It was described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800 s as Mosi-oa-Tunya The Smoke Which Thunders. In more modern terms, Victoria Falls is known as the greatest curtain of falling water in the world. After your tour of the Falls, you will be transported to the starting point of a relaxing horse riding activity. Following, lunch will be served at MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant. This award-winning restaurant is open on three sides and overlooks the waterhole at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, offering a unique opportunity to view elephant and other wildlife as you enjoy your meal truly some of the finest dining in Victoria Falls. After lunch, you will be transferred to a helipad for your helicopter flight over the falls known as the Flight of Angels. Following this magical excursion, transfer back to your hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure. In the early evening, you will be transferred to The Boma Restaurant located at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge (approximately a 20-30 minute drive). Set amidst the indigenous Gusu forest, The Boma - Place of Eating, is not just another ethnic restaurant, but a cultural experience that bombards the senses with the tastes, sights, sounds and smells of Africa and its people. The decor places an emphasis on traditional Ndebele colors and style, while subtle lighting enhances natural trees, rocks and grasses. Diners are invited to sample such local dishes as deep fried kapenta or mopane worm in peanut butter. For the less adventurous, a selection of beef, pork and chicken meat is also available. The menu includes vegetarian dishes, salads, fish, a variety of game meats and traditional stews. Customs such as local beer tasting and pre-dinner handwashing are also observed.
The sights and sounds of the evening are accentuated by the energy of the traditional Ndebele dancers who perform nightly around the Boma fire. Steeped in mystery, a witchdoctor adds a touch of drama by predicting the future. After dinner, guests are invited to wile away the evening with the restaurant's very own sangoma - a traditional storyteller - to learn more about the country's folklore, culture and heritage. After dinner, you will be transferred back to your hotel. From there, you will continue with your flight home.
