The Mission - visualized as the thanks giving offering of the Indian populace to the Father of the Nation on his 150 th anniversary - envisages a mass upsurge for ensuring cleanliness all across the country and the gradual emergence of an unsullied India through the reorientation of individual and collective habits. In response to the noble call, Swachh Bharat Mission, the following Swachhata Hi Seva programmes were conducted at ICAR-CIBA, Chennai and Kakdwip Research Centre (KRC) of CIBA, Kakdwip, West Bangal, and Navsari Gujarat Research Center (NGRC) of CIBA, Navsari, Gujarat with due gravity and purposefulness during 15 th October 2018. 15 and 16 September 2018 birth September to 1 st Kakdwip Research Centre (KRC) of ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture organized Swachhata Hi Seva programme at Kakdwip, Buddhapur, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal on 15 and 16 September 2018. In this occasion, scientists, staff and 15 trainees, totally 40 persons, participated in cleaning and waste removal of three places namely Kakdwip Buddhapur Road, Kakdwip Ramkrishna Mission and Sundarban School, Kakdwip. 1

17 September 2018 KRC of CIBA organized Swachhata Hi Seva programme at Kakdwip, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal on 17 September 2018. In this occasion, scientists, staff and 15 trainees, totally 32 persons, participated in cleaning and removal of waste from the School premises, Sundarban, Kakdwip. Cleaning and removal of waste - Sundarban school, Kakdwip, west Bengal 18 th September 2018 Qrganized awareness on cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation among the villagers; door to door meeting and removal of waste from the households activities as part of Swachhata Hi Seva programme at Keelarkollai village, Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu, on 18 th September 2018. About 60 villagers including CIBA staff actively participated in the programme. Followed by the awareness meeting, the staff and villagers cleaned the village premises of public pathways/roads. CIBA Scientists were interacted with village people and collected the waste from their households and explained about the usage of toilet and hygiene. They distributed cleaning materials to the village leaders for keeping them in the village custody and use them for cleaning common places. The woman folk in large number turned for the programme which indicated the keen interest the villagers shown on the theme and they assured that they would maintain cleanliness of the village. 3

Door to door meeeting and water collection at village premises, Keelarkollai village, Tamil Nadu, ICAR-CIBA, Chennai 19 th September 2018 organized the Swachhata Hi Seva programme at Kuvathur village, Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu, on 19 th September 2018 to create awareness on cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation among the villagers; door to door meeting and removal of waste from the households. About 40 villagers including CIBA staff actively participated in the programme. Followed by the awareness meeting, the staff and villagers cleaned the village premises. CIBA staff emphasized on the importance of cleanliness and sanitation, and urged the people to make a clean locality and open defecation free village. They collected the waste from their households. 5

20 th September 2018 CIBA has organised an awareness campaign among the school children and villagers at Panchayat Union Primary School, Keelarkollai village, Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu, on 20 th September 2018. CIBA staff sensitized the school children about the importance of hygiene and health aspects with displaying of sentences related with cleanliness and hygiene and importance of reducing open defecation and water management to the children. The school premises were cleaned with active participation of the villagers and teachers. Totally 50 participants including students, teachers, community leaders and CIBA team participated in the programme. 21 st September 2018 Organized the SHS 2018 at Kannavandurai village, Tiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu, on 21 st September 2018 to create awareness on cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation among the villagers and removal of waste from the village and coastline premises. CIBA staff explained about novel initiative Swachh Bharat Mission initiated by our Hon ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and its aim and objectives, and importance of self-help principles, usage of toilet, health aspects and hygiene and sanitation. Followed by the awareness meeting, 24 participants including staff and villagers cleaned the village and coastline premises. They distributed cleaning materials to the village leaders for keeping them in the village custody and use them for cleaning common places. 27 th September 2018 Kakdwip Research Centre of ICAR-CIBA organized Swachhta Hi Sewa programme at Dakshin Lakshminarayanpur village, Patharpratima Island, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal on 27 th September 2018. In this occasion, staff of the centre addressed a group of 40 farmers from the adopted village about the necessity of cleanliness and swachhta programme. All the farmers participated in cleaning of plastics and garbage from the village premises. The village road and market place were also cleaned. Cleaning of village roads - - Dakshin Lakshminarayanpur, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal - ICAR- CIBA, Chennai 28 th September 2018 Organised Waste to Wealth programme by recycling of fish and domestic waste under Swachhata Hi Seva-2018 on 28 th September, 2018 at Srinivasapuram, Mullikuppam, Mullimanagar fishermen villages cluster located near CIBA headquarters in Chennai. ICAR- CIBA has demonstrated the protocol for recycling of fish waste to value added products. 12
CIBA staff highlighted the importance of cleanliness in the villages and recycling of fish and domestic waste to avoid infections and diseases. In addition to fish waste, CIBA has demonstrated along with Namma Boomi, NGO, Chennai, on composting of domestic waste in three simple steps, which is cut-cook-compost method. Oosaikal Self Help Group members have shown their interest to setup recycling of fish and domestic waste units in Srinivasapuram. ICAR-CIBA has distributed the required inputs for recycling of fish and domestic waste to Oosaikal Self Help Group members for initiating the recycling of fish and domestic waste units. Around 70 participants including fishermen, women, panchayat leaders and officials from ICAR-CIBA and Namma Boomi, Non- Government Organization, Chennai, were actively participated in the programme. 1 st October 2018 Kakdwip Research Centre of ICAR-CIBA organized cleaning of plastics and garbage from the village road and market activities at Ganeshnagar village, Namkhana, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal on 01.10.2018. In this occasion, scientists of the centre addressed a group of 30 farmers from the adopted village about the necessity of cleanliness and swachhta programme. CIBA staff explained that recycling will not only help in cleaning and hygienic disposal of fish market waste which is abundantly available in the village cluster but will also help to produce wealth from waste. Totally 14 members including staff, scholars and SHG members form Srinivasapuram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu participated in this programme. 15
