THE TRI STAR ON THE MOVE The Halls, Pasinis, Loyds + Amanda join the Porsche Club for a drive to Death Valley and Sunday Brunch. Bob spent a lot of time reading the owner s manual for his new S550 PRESIDENT S MESSAGE We began March by gaining four new members, which is great. I found that being President has some advantages as Chris Murray and George DeGrella began teaching me more about my computer. I am slowly becoming computer literate and find it interesting. Also interesting was our March visit to Sheri s Ranch in Pahrump. Thanks to Claude and Marian Black for setting this up. Another thank you to George and Jeannie DeGrella for setting up our April meeting, in conjunction with Wings & Wheels, in Jean, NV. In May we will meet at Amlees Restaurant in Henderson and in June at the Creekside Restaurant in Boulder City. Both of these locations will be providing us with exclusive use of their facilities. The owners of Amlees are personal friends of Billie and I, and will be opening early to host our Club. Please join us for these meetings while Spanish Trail undergoes their remodeling. The Club flag flew at Sheri s Ranch, the closest Nevada brothel to Las Vegas. Claude Black led a group of members on a tour where they learned that the ladies earn up to $500K per year. We have a cruise to Russia and a National Parks tour coming up. We know everyone cant attend every event, but we hope to see you as often as possible Ed Waymire MAY/JUNE 2007 PAGE 1
COAST TOUR IRON BOTTOM TOUR Since 1999, Ed Pasini has held his No Frills Iron Bottom Motoring Tour on the back roads of Central California. The Ninth annual event, open to pre-1976 cars, was held April 12,13 &14. The event covers 1,000 miles and begins and ends at the Pasadena Rose Bowl. Thirty minutes, and no trains. Ed Pasini guaranteed a train every 12 minutes. Betty Loyd says USC, stands for U See a Choo Choo? New Club members Salomon and Jackie Braun also joined the tour. They brought their E320 diesel and got 720 miles on one tank of fuel. With premium going for $3.80 per gallon the entire gang was re-evaluating diesel technology. WINGS AND WHEELS, JEAN, NV. This year Ed and Bev Suhrbier of Palm Desert, brought their 1957, 220 Cabriolet. This is a very special Mercedes. The Suhrbrier s drove it around the world in 2000, participating in the London to Peking run. The car was fully restored before the rally and had to be restored again after traversing fifteen countries and surviving a sandstorm on the Gobi Desert. The No Frills is a free vintage tour. The Suhrbrier s spent over a quarter of a million for a lifetime of memories on the London to Peking event, thus illustrating the variety of the automobile hobby, Bob Cottam celebrated his 79th birthday and 40th year as a Mercedes Club member with wife Alice, the DeGrellas, Fiores, Geskes, Loyds, Muenchs and Murrays. The group displayed their Mercedes and enjoyed aerobatics and a parachuting demonstration MAY/JUNE 2007 THIS ISSUE PROVES OUR CLUB IS ON THE MOVE!
