The Gander Inn Motel web site is www.ganderinn.net. Trip Advisor is another place to look at the Gander Inn and its popularity. In the fall of 2016 the owners rebranded this property from B&B to vacation rental property. The property is 1.5 acres and is fully landscaped with an automatic sprinkler system. The buildings consist of 5-bedroom lodge with common area, dining room, seats 25-30 and a galley style kitchen. They have continually worked on curb appeal as well as comfort in the rooms. The property has been taken care of and the owners are not aware of any needs at this time. In 2017, the owners listed the Lodge on VRBO and occupancy has jumped 240% over previous years. The laundry room has new commercial technology washer and dryer. The lodge/motel was freshly painted in 2014. A new roof was installed in 2013 on the lodge and motel, the roofs on the other buildings are metal. A commercial 100 gal hot water tank that services the Lodge and motel was replaced in 2014. The water system is run by a well and the water treatment equipment is leased. The motel consists of 6-motel style rooms, rooms have refrigerators, micro waves and coffee pots. Televisions have been upgraded to flat screens. Again, pictures of the rooms can be seen on the website, click on motel rooms. As of August 2017, the owners are listing the motel rooms on Airbnb along with the cottage and lodge. The calendars will link together between VRBO and Airbnb. The cottage is a one bedroom with small kitchen area with eating area and living room. When you look at the web site, click on cottage, there are up to date pictures. The hot water tank in the cottage has also been replaced. The cabin was changed from storage area to living space in 2014, which is the white building in the pictures. This building is completely new on the inside. It is a 1 bedroom with a closet and a private laundry room, bath, full kitchen and a comfortable living room. This would be a great space for an onsite manager. The power supply has been updated, a new 200-amp breaker box for the cabin area, 100-amp service to the kitchen in the Lodge. There are separate breakers for the larger air conditioners that service the rooms. Lewellen is a small town in the panhandle of Nebraska, 18 miles north of the Colorado border, 2.5 hours from Denver. Lewellen is mostly farm and ranch country and the communities rely heavily on tourism. Garden County is host to one of the largest bird migrations in the US, birding season runs from February 20 th to April 15 th. The popular Lake Mac is located 10 miles to the east of the Gander Inn and is host to early fishing tournaments and a very popular lake because of its sandy beaches. Ash Hollow State Park is 3 miles to the east of the Gander Inn and is rich in the history of the Oregon Trail. Located on Highway 26, it is a popular stopping place for people to learn about the early settlers. Highway 26 is the route to Mount Rushmore which also generates business. Hunting season starts October 1 st and runs through Feb. 7 th. The first season is bow, the next season is rifle, for trophy white tail deer. December 1 st starts goose season and that runs through Feb. 7 th. Garden County is rated as one of the best places to hunt in the U.S. Gander Inn guests come from as far away as south Florida and California. The owners were advertising in magazines; however, social media has replaced that expense. They now have guests getting off I-80 to stay with them instead of the chain hotels. LashleyLand.com
