B"H Dear Parents and Campers, Welcome to Summer 5778! With much gratitude and thanks to Hashem, Camp Gan Israel in Beachwood is celebrating 10 years of providing a wholesome Jewish Day Camp option in Beachwood. Thank you Parents for trusting us to give your children the best Jewish Camp Experience. Thank you campers for coming back to camp each summer and telling your friends to join you! The Lubavitcher Rebbe, who founded the international organization of Camp Gan Israel, said, Summer is an opportune time for Jewish Education In camp, when all activities are in a relaxed an pleasurable environment, learning becomes enjoyable and pleasurable I therefore suggest to every parent that is looking for their children to have a successful summer, both physically and spiritually, and for the summer success to continue throughout the year, to send their children to such a camp. The spirit of Torah & joys of Judaism shines throughout all the activities each day at Gan Izzy. We hope to give your children an opportunity to enhance their Love for G-d, Love for the Torah and Love for their fellow Jew. With lots going on this summer included with this handbook are the calendars for all 10 weeks. A weekly email titled A Peek at Next Week will tell you about any changes to the calendar or new surprises added! We ask that you read through this handbook together with your children. Help them understand what to expect and what will be expected of them. With our new Online Registration System, you can now login to your account at any time to view your registration and see your payment status. Looking forward to a happy and safe summer of Jewish fun! JUST ASK! There will always be counselors around to help you. Our Staff: Our staff members are chosen for their devotion to kids. We aim to nurture each child as an individual, to teach values, and to build friendships that last. Careful consideration of camp size will ensure optimum counselor/camper ratio of at least one supervising staff member per six campers. Special care is taken when leaving camp s grounds. Staff can be easily spotted at all times by their CGI T-shirt & dress code. Safety: Safety and hygiene are emphasized at CGI. Campers are encouraged to drink water throughout the day. There are water fountains at the school and water is brought along on every trip. With the sun so hot, and a lot of outdoor activities planned, we encourage you to apply sunscreen and send a labeled hat or cap every day. Contact between staff and the camp director is maintained at all times during the camp day and on field trips, by walkie talkie and cell phone. In case of an emergency, parents, guardians or emergency contacts will be contacted immediately, and, if necessary, family doctors. Activities: Every day is infused with the spirit of Torah and joys of Judaism. All ages have Tefillah (Prayer) & Torah Time (Interactive Jewish Lessons) in their daily schedule. Campers are encouraged to try every kind of activity. CGI offers a wide variety in the daily schedule. The weekly excitement culminates in a fantastic weekly Shabbat Party on Fridays which includes Friday Fun, a Parsha lesson & Braiding Challah! Challah dough comes home in a pan ready to be baked. Follow the camp calendar to know what else to expect! Stay tuned to the weekly email titled A Peek at Next Week to find out of any changes to the calendar or new surprises added!
