(27.07 Sat.) Airport Bishkek city. Ala Archa Natural Park. 35km / 40min (B, L, D) Early morning arrival to Bishkek city. Meeting with the guide and driver. Transfer to the hotel and rest. Early check-in is included. Short rest and breakfast. After breakfast transfer to Ala Archa Natural Park located in a picturesque gorge of Ala Archa 45 km from Bishkek. We spend in the park some time enjoying the beautiful views. Lunch barbeque. Bishkek is a young capital, but it makes up for what it lacks in historical sites with plenty of parks, museums and
monuments. The walkable city is quite lovely thanks to its wide tree-lined boulevards, marblefaced buildings and seemingly countless open green spaces. The upstart capital is still growing and evolving, but there is already much for visitors to explore and enjoy in Bishkek. Today we step into the city life. There are many interesting objects to see and here they are: 1) The Monument of Kyrgyz National hero-manas; 2) Kurmanjan Datka and Lenin monuments; 3) Ala Too main and old squares; 4) Fine art gallery under clear sky; 5) Colorful Osh market with lines of fruits, vegetables, sweets and salads. 6) Victory Square devoted to the WWII. Dinner in a local restaurants. Overnight in a hotel. Day 2. (28.07 Sun.) Bishkek city Chon Kemin valley. 160km / 3hours (B, L, D) In the morning drive to Burana Tower (UNESCO site) near Tokmok town (1,5 hours). That minaret was constructed in Balasagun town, one of the capitals of Karakhanid State existed in 8-12 centuries AD. Here we explore ruins of one of the most important trading point at the Great Silk Road and also visit a little local museum that tells about that civilization by items of ancient. Our attention will be drawn by the collection of Balbals - Turkic ancient tomb stones and stone carvings called petroglyphs. After excursion at the archeological complex you have lunch at Kazakh family in Tokmok town, where tourist can learn about the life of local people. Afternoon transfer to Chon Kemin Valley. The Chon-Kemin gorge and valley, one of the most picturesque localities in the territory of Kyrgyzstan represent a unique natural complex comprising a gorge, valley and the Chon-Kemin River flowing along the Chon-Kemin water gap. Upon arrival accommodation at Ashuu Tor guest house. We can take a walk in this typical Kyrgyz village and get ready for the next white water rafting day. Dinner and overnight at a guest house. Day 3. (29.07 Mon.) Full day at Chon Kemin valley. 250km / 5hours (B, L, D) Full day of white water rafting. 2 times rafting 25 km each Our guide will pick you up from Guest house and take you to the place where you start rafting. Meeting the rafting team who give you the necessary instructions and help with the equipment and rafts. Full day of rafting in Chon Kemin river, difficulty -2-4 ( 25 km of rafting 2 times in one day = 50 km)
The Chon-Kemin River is the Chu River s main tributary. The Chon-Kemin flows for 116km through gorges that produce more challenging 4-5 class rapids. The area around the Chon- Kemin River is a gorgeous setting for rafting with green mountains topped with snowcapped peaks. Lunch picnic. After the rafting transfer to the guest house for dinner and overnight. Day 4. (30.07 Tue.) Chon Kemin Valley Kalmak Ashu pass. (B, L, D) 13 km horseback riding, +1500 m Chon-Kemin is a unique natural reserve where the natural landscapes are preserved almost in virgin state. The glaciers are neighbouring with green coniferous forests and steppe regions. The valley protected with ranges from three sides lies at the height from 1400 to 2800 m above sea level. If there are warmth reigning and green meadows blooming bellow in the valley, then there are permanent snow covering the ranges of Kungei-Ala-Too and Zailiyskiy-Ala-Too at the height of 4700 m. In the morning after breakfast we meet our horseback riding guide and his team. After brief instructions start riding to the Jailoo of Kalmak-Ashuu. After some hours of trekking time and put the tents for overnight stay. Overnight in tents at 3100m. (Riding time 3-4 hours). Day 5. (31.07 Wed.) Horse ride over Kalmak Ashu pass. Drive Balykchy town Karkara Valley. 240km/5hours (B, L, D) 16 km horseback riding, +539 m -1300 m After breakfast we spend morning climbing the pass of Kalmak Ashuu (3539m). On the top of the pass we have a spectacular view to whole Chon Kemin valley behind and the famous Issyk Kul lake (hot lake) in the front. It is the second largest mountain lake in the world after Lake Titicaca in South America. It is at an altitude of 1,607 meters (5,272 ft), and reaches 668 metres (2,192 ft) in depth. The lake never freezes (hence the name), even though surrounded by mountains. A short rest and ride down to have lunch lower than the top. After a short rest descent to the old water reserve of Balykchy where our car picks you up. Transfer to Karkara gorge via Balykchy Town. Dinner and overnight at the tent camp. Day 6. (01.08 Thu.) Helicopter flight to South Inylchek Base Camp. (B, L, D) 1h 20 min helicopter flight (both ways), + 1800 m - 1800 m. In the morning we take a helicopter flight over one of the longest and largest glaciers of Tien Shan Mountains Inylchek, and one of the mystical alpine lakes - Merzbacher Lake. The helicopter lands at the South Inylchek Base Camp located at the altitude of 4200 m above sea level. From the camp we
may observe the highest peaks of Tien Shan Mountains Pobeda Peak (7439 m) and Khan Tengri Peak (7010 m). Time for enjoying the views, taking pictures and exploring the area (Be careful as the soil is slippery with a lot of cravasses. You are walking on a glacier!). Lunch in the Base Camp. In the afternoon flight back to Karkara. Dinner and overnight at the Base camp. Possibility to use sauna (for supplement). Day 7. (02.08 Fri.) Karkara Valley Karakol Town Karakol Gorge. 155km/2hours (B, L, D) Hiking 8 km, 2-2,5 hrs On our way we will stop to visit museum of N. M. Przhevalski, an outstanding Russian explorer of Asian continent. Upon arrival to Karakol town we visit the famous Dungan mosque. Also we see the Old Russian Orthodox Church Holy Trinity Cathedral. After lunch in a local café transfer to Karakol gorge. The distance from Karakol town to Karakol gorge tent camp - 18 km. Special Russian military car takes you 10 km till the last possible point. 8 km of hiking up along the canyon to reach an overnight spot. Dinner and overnight at Karakol tent camp at 2500m. Day 8. (03.08 Sat.) Trek Karakol gorge Ala Kul lake. (B, L, D) Trek along the gorge to Sirota hut and to Ala Kol Lake (3532m). Trek 9 km, 6-8 hrs, +1100m Descent along the gorge about 1 km, later we cross the river over a bridge and the trail leads us into a forest. Rather long ascent finishes at a steep slope covered with grass, the trail turns into a serpentine, passes by a river overflow, and arrive to an unusual place which is called Sirota mountain hut. It is a log hut. There is a table, benches, fireplace inside. We can find a number of sculptures of animals and idols carved in wood around the hut. It looks like a fairy tale place. It is a nice place to sit down, rest, have a snack. Later the trail goes up higher, leaving the forest behind we hike along the river and reach a beautiful waterfall, flowing down from Ala Kol Lake. Dinner and overnight in Ala Kol tent camp at 3600m. Day 9. (04.08 Sun.) Trek Ala Kul lake Altyn Arashan Valley. (B, L, D) Trek over Ala Kol pass (3800m asl) passing Ala Kol Lake and descend to Arashan gorge (2600m asl). Trek 18 km, 6-8 hrs, +200m/-1200m Moraine Lake of Ala Kol stretches from east to west for 2.8km, its width is 500m, and depth 70m. Ala Kol means Colorful Lake in Kyrgyz language. Depending on the light the water might change its color. It can be emerald green, turquoise with white clouds reflected, light green or dark grey, or even black. During the ascent we enjoy wonderful views
of the lake. Arriving closer to the lake we see the main range of Terskei Ala Too with a number of peaks Aksu, Djigit, Karakol, Oguz Bashi, etc. From the lake edge it will take us another hour and half to the pass. Descent from the pass along a talus slope, and later across a wide valley of Keldike with picturesque landscapes, herds of cattle and flocks of sheep grazing. Later the trail brings us into a forest again and descends into Arashan valley. Upon arrival to the tent camp you may use an opportunity to relax in the hot springs. There are thermal baths (up to +50C) in the valley. Possibility to take thermal baths. Dinner and overnight in Altyn Arashan tent camp at 2600m. Day 10. (05.08 Mon.) Altyn Arashan Valley - Karakol town Cholpon Ata town.165km/4-5hours (B, L, D) The resort Altyn Arashan was founded in 1963. It s famous for hot mineral springs. The resort represents several wooden huts located on a big treeless meadow on the right bank of Arashan river. The Northern slopes of the left river bank are covered with fir trees. It gives an unforgettable picture dark green trees with snowcapped mountains Aksu wall (5022m) on the background. Transfer to Cholpon Ata town. Possibly to descent over green fields with blooming flowers and crystal mountain springs. The final 5 km of the gorge are very narrow not more than 30 m with high rock walls. At the entrance to the gorge we pass by a village Ak Suu (the name comes from the hot springs). Here you will take place inside the car. Accommodation in a hotel on the north shore of Issyk Kul Lake. Dinner and overnight in a hotel. Day 11. (06.08 Tue.) Cholpon Ata town - Son Kul lake. 280km/5-6hours (B, L, D) After breakfast in the hotel you will be transferred to Son Kul Lake. En route you see Orto Tokoi water reservoir and make a stop in Kochkor village where we can visit the Handicraft museum and shop where tourists can buy different souvenirs made from felt. Lunch in a local family. After lunch we continue our way to Son Kul Lake over Kalmak Ashuu Pass (3447 m asl). Upon arrival to Son Kul Lake accommodation in the Yurt Camp. Dinner and overnight in the Yurt Camp. Day 12. (07.08 Wed.) Full day cycling at Son Kul lake. Alpine Lake Son Kul is located in the Tien Shan range at the altitude of 3016 m. During the summer Son Kul pasture is considered to be the best Kyrgyz jailoo. The road to the lake goes through the windy mountain passes and vanishes in the sky. Full day cycling at Son Kul lake area. You will take our cycles and visit local nomads who graze their flocks of sheep and herds of horses. It is a nice opportunity to meet nomads, learn more about their life and take photos. Also you can taste with always friendly Kyrgyz families their fresh airan (yogurt) and kumiz (a fermented national drink from mare's milk).
Day 13. (08.08 Thu.) Son Kul lake Bishkek city. 350km/6hours (B,L,D) In the morning, after breakfast, we drive back to Bishkek city. We pass through "Boom Gorge", which lies at the eastern end of the Kyrgyz Range and provides the only corridor between two Chui and Issyk Kul regions. The length of the gorge is about 30 km. Converging together through this narrow canyon are a highway, a railway, and the Chu River. Traveling through the gorge you can enjoy beautiful views of the high mountains, somewhere steep and rocky, and somewhere flat, and the rapid flow of the river Chu. Upon arrival to Bishkek head to hotel to prepare for farewell dinner. Farewell dinner with Folk Show and traditional food. Day 14. (09.08 Fri.)
