26 4 Spaldwick Gardening Club Last month s meeting saw a very successful plant swap amongst members. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 8th July at 7.30pm at Joyce and Grahame s, Chestnut View, High Street. New Members always welcome. After this, the Gardening Club s main event in July is our plant stall at this year s Spaldwick Fete. On the Gardening Club stall there will be a basket with foliage and oasis in which we invite anyone to place a cut rose from their garden. At the end of the day, these lovely blooms will be placed in the church. Also, would anyone who is able to supply the club with plants for sale on our stall, please bring them along on the morning of the Fete, Saturday, 11th July, before 10.30am. If you could label your plants, that would be very helpful. We also look forward to seeing club members at our garden visit on the 18th July to Kathy Brown s Garden. We plan to be at the Spaldwick fete again this year to bring our brand of fun We haven't been able to book the sailing event at Grafham Water due to dates not being available. As usual we will provide details for this and other events for our members this year through ESCAPE facebook & Spaldwick website ESCAPE group page. Thank you to Darrell and Maud and No.Twelve shop customers for their support over the years donating spare change to the ESCAPE collection tin in the shop. COMMUNITY SPEEDWATCH Hi Everyone, my name is Sharan Jackson-Rimmer and I am the Spaldwick Parish Council s newly appointed Community Speedwatch Coordinator. Some of you may know that I am a driving instructor and a Mum of two children (aged 13 and 11), so I am quite passionate about speed limits especially through our village. I ve set myself a couple of initial tasks: Firstly, arrange training for all volunteers (current and new): a training session has been arranged with Brian Robbins in the Community Room on Thursday 9th July from 7pm. Secondly, set up regular Speedwatch sessions: once everyone has received training I intend to work out a rota so that Speedwatch sessions can take place more regularly. Until we can arrange some regular sessions I am hoping that I can organise a Speedwatch session within the next two weeks (with those volunteers that have previously received training). There have been a number of complaints on the Spaldwick Village Facebook page about the speed of some vehicles coming through the village. So, I want to remind drivers that we are a Speedwatch area and that we do conduct Speedwatch checks. If you would like to volunteer or to contact me please email csw.spaldwick@yahoo.co.uk 10 3
