OK I finally made it off the continent. Brenda and I spent a week on Oahu, I think we did all the touristy things but still enjoyed Hawaii very much. We got back last Thursday. The beaches are sure different from California. The sand is different, finer, and cleaner it seemed. The water color is spectacular, and the water temp is nice for swimming. This time of year is not big wave season but we still got up close to some 8-10 footers. We were on the North Shore area on a good day and witnessed exceptional surf for the time of year. If you have never seen Bonsai Pipeline in person, wow! It just defies description, it has to be seen. The sets come in from 2 sides merging together in a narrow v type formation and create some unbelievable surfing sights. Pearl Harbor was another experience that won t soon be forgotten by us. Very thought provoking. The park and memorial is truly a great thing to experience. We had also The Prez Sez planned to visit the National Memorial Cemetery but didn t have time to get that in. We booked an Island tour that made for a looong day. Toured the Island perimeter including the Dole plantation, and the Polynesian village. I promise you...14 hours on and off a tour bus will make anyone crazy! But we had a great lunch at a roadside shrimp farm. Saw some unbelievable beaches. At the village we heard every possible version of Island drumming (won t go back for that ever again). We had a lot of scenic drives on the interstate... INTERSTATE? What s up with that were on an Island. Anyway a long but memory filled tour day. On impulse one afternoon just sitting on the beach I signed us up for a Catamaran ride. I did great, but guess who didn t do so well. Ya Shoulda been there Da Prez
