CD Report Report for June. In the month of May, we had our ARC class & everybody had some fun. We also took a few rides. I had a lot of fun on our ride selling tickets at Sobie Meats. Of our Rainbow Connection tickets that we have, we have 40 tickets left to sell. I think I have 20 sold, so hopefully we will we will find someone willing to buy 20 tickets. But for now we need to start looking at June. We will be busy in June. On June 30th, some of us going to Wing Ding in South Carolina (that s in Greenville). We will be riding around the country, around Greenville and also other places. We will have fun, but for now we need to worry about the rides we have lined up for June. So for those of you reading the article, read our newsletter and you will find rides for June listed. Hopefully, we have a good turnout. We have been getting a lot of trikes on our rides. I feel kind of lonely sometimes being the only 2 wheeler showing up. It would be nice if a few more 2 wheelers joined the ride. But still fun to go riding. No matter when or where. Hopefully, the rain will slow down and we will be able to do more rides. I would like to know if you would like a bag lunch ride. More bag lunch rides. Or we can stop at a park then have lunch and ride on. Let me know at our gathering. Your CD EZRA. COMING SOON!!! The MIDNIGHT RIDE!!! Yep, it s JUNE already and time to prepare for our Midnight Ride!!! On May 23, we met with Janet from the St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce, Mindy from The Visitors Bureau, and Mark owner of the Mackinac Grille!!! Of course it rained and we HAD to take the truck!!! Anyway, Randy & Cheryl from Chapter MI-N came with us to decide how to park motorcycles at the restaurant. There will be 3 double lines for the breakfast buffet. The breakfast is $6.00/person. It is a hot breakfast and the menu is on our brochure. We also discussed the bike show. There will be a Mayor s Choice Award, plus 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prizes. Ballots will be provided by the Chamber and will be a one dollar donation for JDRF. For the Light Parade, they will provide a map for the route and staging area, since it will start in a different place. Mark will have a tent placed in the front of his restaurant for the vendors, put up on Thursday and ready for Friday setup. So, vendors will be able to sell on Friday AND Saturday. We will need volunteers to distribute the voting ballots and be in charge of the donations. AND one more thing: Mark said they also own an ice cream place!!! He does have an ice cream wagon and may put the wagon near our vendors!!! How great is that? We will see how all this works out. Just PRAY that the weather cooperates!! PLEASE!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH, Janet, Mindy, Mark, Randy, and Cheryl!!! assists with our Midnight Ride to benefit JDRF. Thank you, Marilynn AND everyone who 3

Harry Emmert Rider Ed RIDER ED GIMME 5 PICKING A LINE-------WHICH ONE TO USE? By Paul Creger Taken from THUNDER ROADS magazine April 2013 Volume 9 Issue 6 Imagine your riding down a winding country two -lane. The sun is shining, the breeze is blowing and the ride is perfect. You stop for lunch or dinner at a one intersection town at a Mom and Pop diner where Babs, the waitress with the beehive hairdo, calls everyone Darlin and knows everyone in town. I mean, that s why we ride, right? It certainly isn t so we can run up and down the superslab in traffic and go to the double arches-have-it -your-way-choke-and puke. it s the country roads, feeling the breeze, watching the countryside go by, small towns and the great people you meet along the way. In Michigan, too many of our fellow riders are involved in single motorcycle accidents in curves. In fact, most of the single vehicle accidents involving motorcycles in the U.S. occur in a curve. We all know someone who had a crash where they went off the road in a curve. When you ask them what happened, they say something like, I don t know. Or, I was just going along and the next thing I know, I was in the ditch. So, why did this happen and what can we do to help ourselves? Two things will make a great deal of difference: 1) Looking where you want to go, and 2) Picking a good line. Now when I talk about picking a line, I m not referring to what you re going to use on the waitress with the beehive hair. She s probably heard it anyway. What I AM talking about is the path your going to take to get through the curve. The key to picking that good line? LOOK where you want TO GO in the road, not at what s around the edges. If you ve ever noticed, when you turn your head to look at something, your bike tends to go that direction. C mon, admit it. It happens all the time. Look at the scenery on the side of the road, and the bike goes to that side of the road. Look at the accident on the other side, the bike goes that direction too. The key to traveling through curves safely is to look where you want to go. If you look at the big tree right on the edge of the road while you re in the curve, there s a good possibility you re going to meet that big tree, and it might not be the meeting you want to have. That s why you have to look THROUGH the curve, past the big tree, to where you want to go. There are basically three different kinds of curves you re going to encounter; constant radius, increasing radius and decreasing radius curves. To be continued next month. Submitted by H, Emmert, Rider Ed. Chapter G 4

Along with Antimatter, and Dark Matter, we ve recently discovered the existence of Doesn t Matter, which appears to have no effect on the universe whatsoever. But isn t that why we ride? CJ Shroll, Jeff Altena, Howard Stob and Mark and Diane DeHaan just like to ride. They took a 1500 mile ride to Knoxville TN for a Ride/Barbecue weekend May 17-19. Pictures are on our web site. Are there any special rides you want to take? Let us know. Tour Master Sonora Air Mesh Jacket.
