MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Tim Jacksy Message from The President Tim Jacksy Monthly Dinner I would like to discuss our monthly dinner situation at our August meeting this Thursday. We are currently charged for 25 meals minimum each month. The number of our members that choose to have the meal has been less than 25 lately and our club has been paying the difference. What do our members think about this situation? Do we need to make a change? If you have a suggestion or thought please bring it up at the meeting or send me an e-mail or give me call. MESSAGE FROM THE Vice PRESIDENT Beth Batista Where has the time gone? As I was catching up on my reading, I came across an article about the beginnings of the Corvette. Sixty-five years ago, on June 28, 1953, the first of only 300 hand-assembled Polo White Corvettes rolled off of the production line. With features such as doors that only opened from the inside, a clock, cigarette lighter and a red warning light that activated when the parking brake was applied, this car could have been yours at the time for only $3,490. I was a little too young to drive one at the time, but I bet it was a fun vehicle to drive at the time. This month I ll be journeying to Steamboat Spring, Colorado to participate in the annual event, Vettes on the Rockies. It will be a great time cooler weather and the opportunity to make new friends in Colorado who share a love of all things Corvette. I m really looking forward to this trip! See you all at the meeting! 4

The January 7, 2016 meeting of the Brazos River Corvette Club was held at the Harbor Lakes Country Club. At 6:30 PM Chip Mull came forward to open the meeting with his final request to have Libby Lanzara bless the meal. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was led by David Penwell. Chip asked Betty Keck to come forward. He presented her with a plaque and appreciation for her service. He then asked for Kelly and Debby Fulmer to come forward. He gave an apology to the Fulmers for missing them in the December meeting. Chip gave them a deserved plaque and thanked them for their service to the club. David Penwell came forward and thanked Chip. David listed the past officers: The first officer was Terry Smith in 2004 and 2005, Dale Van Fossem 2006, Robert Anderson 2007, David Penwell 2008, Carol Harris 2009, Jim Hill 2010, Mike Lanzara 2011, John Bratta 2012, Libby Lanzara 2013 and 2014, and Chip Mull 2015. He proceeded to preform the installation of the 2016 officers. Terry Varner as the 2016 President, Ed Pultorak as Vice President, Teresa Batson as Treasurer and Kim Sheppard as Secretary. David reminded the members of article 6 which speaks about the officers duties. Terry upon being presented the gavel, thanked the members for entrusting him with the job. He would keep our club on track and do what is best for the club and its members. Terry thanked all past officers and Teresa and Kim for returning. Reports: Terry asked for any corrections to the December minutes. None were given. A motion was made by Chip to approve the minutes and seconded by Debby. All unanimously approved the minutes. Treasurer Teresa Batson read the balance of the club and paid one bill. All present agreed to pass the Treasures report. Committee Reports: Events/Cruise Kelly would like to have 1 to 3 events a month. He requested the members to think about what they would like to do. Kelly will work with you. He has Libby hosting the Super Bowl in February. Nick, John and Gary have something in mind. Terry thanked Kelly and introduced Jim Hill. Newsletter/Car show/yahoo Group Manager/Photographer/Historian Jim handles many jobs and would love some help. He is willing to instruct anyone that is interested. Terry asked for volunteers to help Jim. July 5th BRCC MINUTES The Brazos River Corvette Club meeting was held on July 5, 2018 at Harbor Lakes Country Club. John Bratta opened the evening with a prayer blessing the meal, club and meeting. The 2018 President Tim Jacksy called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM and welcomed everyone in attendance. The Pledge of Allegiance was given by Tim Jacksy. Twenty-nine people attended the meeting. Beth Batista stated that we have no guests tonight. Tim reminded members to please fill out the roster sheets to help with the minutes. Reports: The June minutes by Kim Sheppard are in the Newsletter and posted on the web site. Terry Varner made a motion to accept the June minutes. They were seconded by Bob Brandies. None were opposed. All present were in favor and approved the minutes. Vettes on the Rockies Thu. Aug. 23, 2018 - Sun. Aug. 26, 2018 3:00 PM Various Locations UPCOMING EVENT Vettes on the RockiesThe 65th Anniversary of America s Sports Car The Looking Glass Corvette Association and Vettes On The Rockies have been around since 1973, starting as a club picnic in Grand Lake, Colorado. The event s location has moved over the years, using several mountain venues, at one point attracting over 600 cars to Summit County. To celebrate the club s 45th anniversary, a national event is again being planned for 2018. Steamboat Springs and the Steamboat Grand Resort have been selected as hosts for the event. The weekend will start Thursday afternoon with registration, followed by a meet & greet at the hotel. Friday morning the Funkana will be run in the Meadows Parking Lot - a slower speed driving event on a tight course with special tasks to complete along the way. Spectators are welcome. Friday evening will feature a live auction at the hotel. The Show N Shine car show will be held in downtown Steamboat on Yampa Street Saturday morning, and will be followed by a banquet at the Grand Resort Friday evening. There will be plenty of free time in the afternoons and evenings for attendees to enjoy the local scene-great food & shopping, the hot springs, scenic drives, mountain-top dining, pro rodeo, and all the other great activities that Steamboat Springs offers. 8

EAST TEXAS CRUISE, BRENHAM/JEFFERSON SEPT 7,8 &9TH As every should know by now we are set to cruise to Brenham and then on to Jefferson, Texas. We will be stopping on the way to Brenham for lunch at a little place called Top of the Hill Greasy burgers. It was recently featured on Texas back roads and we have eaten there and can attest that the hamburgers are GREAT! From there we will head by Washington on the Brazos for a visit. In addition to many Texas historical facts they have an excellent demonstration farm with people in period clothing and a farm house, barn and animals. In Brenham we will visit the Blue Bell factory store to get our ice cream and then on to the Holiday Inn Express and dinner. The next day we will head out for Jefferson via some really great back roads (we hope we can remember where all the turns are) These roads go through the Davy Crockett and Sam Houston National Forrest which are very lush and beautiful. We will stop for lunch at a small cafe, converted from a church, which is being opened for lunch on Saturday for just us. Once in Jefferson we will be staying at a historic hotel in downtown which has many shops and antique stores/malls as well as some nice historical buildings. Everything is within walking distance of where we are staying and we hope to be there in time for those that wish to take a stroll through downtown Jefferson. Kelly Fulmer has set up dinner for us at Big Pines Lodge Restaurant on Caddo Lake, which has a upper deck and ground level patio with water views. We have mapped out a return route which includes lunch at Boondocks on Cedar Creek Lake and some back roads to get us home. Remember that the rooms are only being held until August 7th, so if you plan on coming please get your rooms reserved. We plan on putting out a list after August 7th to get a head count, and to get lunch selections for Saturday lunch. 9
