Once he started talking about it, I wondered if he was going to stop!! Such is the impact RYLA seems to have on the participants. For me it was good to hear exactly what happens at RYLA, as up to now I just knew they all thought it was the best thing, but Josh explained what happened on each day. It seems a good combination of skill development, team bonding and giving them the confidence and belief in themselves to potentially become leaders in their chosen field. It was good to know that RYLA is worthy of our continued support. In relation to the Long Ride 4 Life fundraiser, I will bring tickets (which are in books of 10) to the meeting along with flyers and ask if you would consider taking a book, if you feel you could sell a book amongst your networks. Is there anywhere you can ask to have flyers put up? I was thinking the Rural Supply places might be happy to display the flyers as it may be of interest to that market. If this fundraiser is to be a success it needs the support of this community. Regards President Isabelle INNER WHEEL MAY MEETING Please Note Change of Venue Details..... Inner Wheel's next meeting and M & N Tea on 28 th May, will now be held at Stephanie Johnston's home at 3630 Meander Valley Road, Exton. An invitation is extended to partners, family, friends and Rotarians to join with us for this meal and meeting. A reminder to all Inner Wheel Members that you are booked in for this meeting, if you are unable to attend, or you are bringing guests, please ensure that you contact Robin Dixon on 6362 2160.

NEWS FROM P.E. MICHAEL COMMITTEES 2014/2015 Club Service and Committees for next year Enclosed with this bulletin (towards the back) is a first draft of Club Service tasks and Committees for next year. Please let me know if there are any duplications or omissions, or if you would prefer to swap to a different task/committee. P.E. Michael DISTRICT LEARNING ASSEMBLY HELD SUNDAY 25 TH MAY There were about 200 Rotarians from around the state who attended the District Learning Assembly at Archers Manner last Sunday. Thanks to the 8 members of our club for taking time on their weekend to attend. It was good to see three of our members in positions at District level. Congratulations to John and Lesley Dare who are preparing to move into the District Governor Elect position. Lesley continues with her Friendship Exchange position. Annette Viney is preparing to become Assistant Governor for Group 4. There were 2 good guest speakers talking about how to sell ourselves better and that seems to be the big challenge into the future. I found out some interesting things about our e-rotary Down Under magazine. One of them was that the biggest audience of that magazine is people in their thirties and 75% of the readers aren t members so our message is getting out there and they may join later when they have less commitments and more time. How to get the most from Clouds and Dropboxes Rtn Mike Muller is prepared to offer tuition to anyone interested in learning more about Clouds and/or Dropboxes. If you are interested turn up at the MVEC/Digital Hub room (62 Emu Bay Road) on Wednesday (28 th May) at 2.00p.m. If you have a laptop or tablet, bring it along but this is not a necessary requirement, there are computers available for you use, practice on!! DISTRICT NEWS MESSAGE TO MEMBERS: This was a message that a club president sent to all club members last week and is worth sharing: "Help needed, Tonight our newest members XXX & XXX are bringing guests who are interested in becoming members. As this is now the age group who will build our club, I am asking if members can find it within their heart to personally welcome both people tonight and even acknowledge them before leaving the meeting. A friendly club environment will be a winner as we grow the club to viable numbers" Reports from the club president concerned indicate that members took notice and the visitors felt welcomed. Whilst it relates to April, it is still good to reprint and to advise Rotarians of what Lillie is doing, and how she is enjoying her time in Belgium. Hello! Wow I can't believe it s the Easter holidays in less then a week! I am changing host family at the end of the first week.. I love the family that I am in now, but I have to change because the boy that was coming to this family next has to change because his current family does not want him anymore. I am sad to leave, but also excited to meet my next family! Apparently my host mother does not speak anything but French and the father is hardly at home because he works a lot. So it will be a challenge for me, but it will be good, I think it will make me learn French more quick. Last week I went to London with my year from school, it was absolutely amazing! I got to see all of the major tourist sights and look around the city! Lillie NEXT WEEKS GUEST SPEAKERS At next weeks meeting, Alex and Emma will talk to the Club with regards to Metal Minds Robotics, and here s a little bit about them. Metal Minds Robotics Team, fresh from success with the national championships, fourth overall, third place Inspire Award and first place control award are now to represent Australia in the Asia Pacific Invitational. The API is held at Macquarie University Sydney. There will be 40 teams from all the world competing in "Block Party". "Block Party" is a robotic challenge where students aged 14-18 have designed, built and programmed a robot to run autonomously for 30 seconds and two minutes human controlled to compete several challenges. Climb onto a bridge, collect 2 plastic blocks, raise a flag and hang from a pull-up bar. Metal Minds robot was the only one during competition to hang from the pull up bar. The team dynamic is based on "FIRST", For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology and an underlying ethos of Gracious Professionalism. Metal Minds was formed from a group of like-minded friends. Harry Heathcote started the team by asking friends if they wanted to be involved.

This will be a partners night Group 4 Forum at Perth (6.00 for 6.30pm) LETTER OF THANKS A letter of thanks has been received from Libby Paterson. A friend of Libbys (Anna Davies) moved to Tasmania in February 2014, by early May she was critically ill from a melanoma and was moved to the Deloraine Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Sadly she died on 12 th May, supported by staff, family and friends. Libby noticed that the local Rotary Club had funded the extension and facilities of the Palliative Care room. She writes to you and all your good members past and present we say THANK YOU. It was a wonderful facility that we utilised extensively: resting, sleeping overnight, heating food, chilling drinks, etc. It made an enormous difference that we could all be physically close to our friend without all being on top of each other. For your great deeds, fantastic sponsorship and thoughtful installations, the Davies family and I will be eternally grateful.
