The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes MARCEL PROUST The Desert Dash is a unique event that combines the thrill of motorsports with the luxury of fine, hand-picked hotels. Set in Rajasthan s exquisite desert, it promises a truly memorable experience that has never been offered before in India.
How it works The Desert Dash will be run in compliance with the International Sporting Code of the FIA and the National Competition Rules (NCR) of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI). The Desert Dash is a Time Speed Distance event that comprises a set of instructions specifying a route to travel, and a speed at which to travel. A team, consisting of a driver and a navigator, attempts to travel the specified route at exactly the specified speeds. The Desert Dash is not a race. Traveling too fast results in penalties as does traveling too slowly. Arriving too early at a checkpoint hurts the team s score, as does arriving too late. The team is scored on how closely to the correct time they arrive. The route has been carefully charted to cover lightly-traveled terrain with breath-taking views. Of course, there are prizes at the end but as participants will discover the journey is really the destination! The participants No previous motorsport experience is required to participate in The Desert Dash. The entire event has been carefully designed to give participants the thrill of driving off-the-beaten track. The focus is on trying an entirely new experience, competing with like-minded people and having fun. The Desert Dash is an invitation-only event with a limited number of participants. It is open to select car owners with premium street legal vehicles: Both 4WD and 2WD vehicles allowed Off-road test for vehicles with 4WD capability 2WD sedans and SUVs to compete in a separate group All details taken care of No special vehicle preparation is required. All preparation required for The Desert Dash will be organized by Cougar Motorsport. As you go winding up the undulating mountain road, you are transported back in time. With fabulous views of the surrounding countryside and the old town of Kuchaman at its feet, it provides luxury in a completely unique setting. KHIMSAR FORT Situated on the edge of the Great Thar Desert, this unique fort at Khimsar was built by Rao Karamsiji, the 8th son of the Jodhpur founder, Rao Jodha in 1523 AD. Almost 500 years later, a section of the fort still remains the residence of the royal family of Khimsar. The remaining is a beautiful luxury hotel set amidst a lush oasis of 11 acres.
L ALLGARH PAL AC E AND LAXMI NIWASPALACE Located in Bikaner, these palaces were built by the Late Maharaja Ganga Singh, the maker of modern Bikaner and designed by Sir Swinton Jacob, the celebrated architect. Laxmi Niwas Palace was the residence of the Maharaja himself. Built around a stately courtyard, it offers beautifully appointed rooms. The Lallgarh Palace Hotel, adjoining the Laxmi Niwas Palace, has been called poetry in sandstone. Both hotels offers all possible luxuries in a setting fit for royalty.
