Shopping Durham is a small college town so amenities are limited, however all essentials can be found within walking distance of the university and hotel. A map will be provided for your convenience upon arrival. For more expanded shopping a car or taxi is needed. Durham The Durham Market Place- Local grocery store with all of the selection of a regular grocer as well as a fine selection of specialty food items. Located in the shopping plaza on Mill road just down the hill from the intersection with Main street in Durham. Rite Aid- Pharmacy located next to the Durham Market Place on Mill road. Breaking New Grounds- Local coffee and tea shop in downtown Durham. Located on Main street just east of the edge of campus. Bank of America ATM- Cash Machine located on Main street, right next to Breaking New Grounds just east of campus. The UNH Bookstore- Typical campus bookstore providing books, basic office supplies and UNH memorabilia. Located within the Memorial Union building on campus, just inside the main entrance off of Quad way. Portsmouth/ Newington (car or taxi required) The Mall at Fox Run- Standard mall amenities located at 50 Fox Run road Newington, NH The Crossings- Outdoor shopping plaza includes Regal Cinemas, Barnes & Nobel, Best Buy, Staples, Trader Joes etc. Located at 45 Gosling road, Newington, NH Downtown Portsmouth- Walking friendly downtown area with shopping, dinning and sightseeing. If driving, parking is available on the street or in the centrally located parking garage on Hanover street. Transportation Air Transportation Boston Logan Airport- Approximately 1.5 hours from Durham by car or 2 hours by bus. Rental cars or bus available to New Hampshire. Website: http://www.massport.com/logan- airport/ Manchester Regional Airport Approximately 45 min from Durham by car. No public transportation available. A rental car or car service is required Website: http://www.flymanchester.com/ Portland International Jetport- Approximately 1 hour from Durham by car or 2 hours via a bus and train combination. Rental cars or car service available. Website: http://www.portlandjetport.org/ Ground Transportation C&J Bus- $23 one- way from Logan airport to Portsmouth bus station. Busses run hourly accommodating all flight times. A taxi is required to get from the bus station to Durham. Bus service is required from the airport to the train station in both cases (#5 bus from Portland airport to the train station or the blue line bus from Boston airport to North station). This is not the most convenient nor least expensive, but the ride is scenic. Car Service- Several car services are available for hire from all three airports. Charges may vary. Some options can be found on the UNH visitor site. However, calling in advance is suggested as Durham is a rural area and there are no taxi stands. FlightLine- Van service to connect both Manchester and Boston Logan airports to Durham. Prices vary depending on the number of people sharing a van. Can be booked up to 24 hours in advance. Directions UNH is Located off US Route 4 in Durham, New Hampshire From I- 95 South (Maine), take Exit 5 (in NH) to the Spaulding Turnpike (Route 16N), then take Exit 6W (Route 4 West) towards Durham to the Exit for Route 155A. At the bottom of the ramp take a left. Follow Main street approximately ¾ mile into Durham. From I- 95 North (Mass.), take Exit 4 (in NH) (left hand exit) to the Spaulding Turnpike (Route 16N), then take Exit 6W (US Route 4 West) towards Durham to the Exit for Route 155A. At the bottom of the ramp take a left. Follow Main street approximately ¾ mile into Durham. From the West, take route 101 East to Exit 7 (Route 125 North). Follow Route 125 North to the traffic circle. Take US Route 4 East to the Durham Exit (2 miles)(route 155A). At the bottom of the ramp take a right. Follow Main street approximately ¾ mile into Durham. For the Three Chimneys Inn, follow directions above, but turn left onto Route 108 toward Newmarket just past the Irving gas station instead of going into Durham. The entrance to the inn is on the left. Parking Parking is limited on the UNH Campus. If you choose to rent a car and would like us to reserve a parking spot on campus please let us know in advance and we will make arrangements.
