Area History: In 600 AD, the Ute Tribes inhabited this area they referred to as Bubbling Waters. The native tribes considered the eruption of bubbles in the mineral water the breath of the Great Spirit Manitou, which we know as Manitou Springs. The Utes said it had great medicinal qualities.
