Mr. King stated that the realization that Destin will not have its own high school has been accepted. The issue now is to get the Destin community identified with Fort Walton Beach High School. A lot of Destin residents are not aware that Destin is in the designated attendance zone for Fort Walton Beach High. Confusion is added to the situation when the Principal of Niceville High School is allowed to go to Destin Middle School to promote Niceville High. It is difficult to get the community to support Fort Walton Beach High School when there is a split between the schools. He asked for the Board s and the Superintendent s help in promoting Fort Walton Beach High School in the Destin community. Discussion of the situation described by Mr. King concluded with the Board Members and the Superintendent offering their support in promoting Fort Walton Beach High School in the Destin community and in conveying to the community that Destin is within the designated attendance zone of Fort Walton Beach High School. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda as amended was made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Walker and carried unanimously: 115
