Power Sector Reforms Is Going On At Different Rates In The Different Countries Nigeria started its reforms, stopped and has restarted. Ghana Power Sector Reforms which started in mid-90s has started to accelerate The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO), the independent transmission network operator, was operationaliazed in 2008 In many countries, given their market size, there appears to be little impetus to reform

Benefits of Power Sector Reforms Brings focus on the respective segments of electricity supply Generation, Transmission and Distribution Brings focus on efficiency, cost competitiveness and need for transparency Clarifies need as well as outlines plans for, cost reflective tariffs Sets the stage for entry of private sector investment and participation
