Ed s Notes Sonoma County definitely got to Watch the Fords go by on June 22nd. REMTC and Sonoma A s got together for the now annual T & A tour. Steve & Cindy Vining s beautiful home in Sebastopol, surrounded by vineyards and rolling green hills, was the venue for our pancake breakfast. The Model A s outnumbered the T s by two to one. This should give us a challenge next year to try to match their numbers. It was great to see so many beautiful Ford s filling the driveways and fields of the Vining property. I believe there were 20 or more Model A s and about 12 Model T s. The breakfast was yummy with pancakes and sausages, coffee and orange juice and lots of sweet muffins and pastries. Chris Rich & Ted Shimkowski manned the grill and when all the guests was sufficiently full, Chris called a driver s meeting. We handed out poker cards, which would total 5 by the end of the tour. The weather was incredibly perfect and the tour route took us through some of our favorite back roads and a few that were not familiar. First stop was Occidental, where we met a full tour of Harley s, out for a fund-raiser for Breast Cancer. Occidental was packed with Ford s, Harleys and summer tourists. We left to tour to Monte Rio and then back down Pocket Canyon, picking up Green Valley and headed back to Vining s. At one spot, we all had to turn around and head in the opposite direction. Always fun to watch as 30 or so cars seems to turn on a dime. All safely made the return route back to Vining s. Vince Gregoire s Essie, the sheriffs Model T, earned special attention for it s ability to run on tires that had rubber peeling off on the road. Time for a new set of tires, Vince? After the tour, the group gathered under canvas pop-ups to enjoy their box lunches and then desserts were enjoyed and ice cream bars handed out. Poker hand prizes were awarded and we had time to chat with our Model A friends. Thanks to all the great folks in the Model A Club for showing up with so many beautiful Model A s to admire and enjoy touring with on Sonoma County back roads. Thanks to the Vining family for providing the venue and all the work setting up.thanks to Bill Newlin for making sure all the Ford s were parked at Vinings. Thanks to Chris for setting up and cooking the breakfast. Thanks to Ted for helping with the grill and heading the tour. Thanks to Joan Henderson for decorating, of all things, the port a-potty. Fresh flowers and herbs made the experience of outdoor plumbing enjoyable!! Ginny Check our web site for some wonderful photos by the Model A s Club photographer, Joanna. 3
