Merry Christmas Everyone, Christmas has snuck up on all of us it was just a short time ago we were looking at buying Easter eggs. Our year has been full of social nights and activities such as lawn bowls and bowling to some spectacular rides through out the year. With the occasional overnighter thrown into the mix. The weather has some input regarding rides it is either too wet or too hot. But there is a merry band of riders within the branch who ride rain or shine and I take my hat off to them. Christmas is a time for family and friends together and catch up on the gossip which has happened through out the year. Especially if you have not seen them for some time. I will be catching up with my daughter from the U.K. who is here for the Christmas. She is currently training to swim the English Channel in July. I take my hat off to her as this is not going to be just a swim in the pool. So her training is swimming in the Locks every weekend to acclimatize to water temperature. So when she swims in the ocean sea water is much warmer than the locks. The group she is training with have all swam the channel so she is in good hands. We are heading to Cairns and the Daintree with some diving thrown into the mix with sky rail and train adventure and anything else in between. So I wish you all a great Christmas and keep safe especially with riding as there are some idiots out there with blinkers on and don t give a dam about who else is on the road. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Susanne

BRUNO S BABBLINGS FOR THE MONTH ACTING PRESIDENT FOR BRISBANE BRANCH Hi All, As Christmas is approaching faster than expected we all must try to stay calm and focus on what is happening around us. I m saying that I would like to take this opportunity to give our members a gentle reminder of the upcoming Branch A.G.M. Now is time to consider about the role of being a committee member, either a top 3 position, or an ordinary committee member. All positions are valuable and require voluntary time to ensure the Branch operates smoothly and to its capacity. The positions which become vacant at every branch A.G.M are the 3 main positions of PRESIDENT, SECRETARY, TREASURE and 3 ordinary committee members. If the latter positions are not filled, the branch will still function with only 3 main positions filled. Of course the ex-officio positions are RIDE CO-ORDINATOR, NEWSLETTER EDITOR, WEB EDITOR, SOCIAL DIRECTOR, while these positions are not essential to the operation of the branch, they play a vital part to ensure the smooth running of the branch. NOTE One member cannot operate the branch alone, it takes a team for it to run smoothly. If you are considering nominating for a position and are not sure of what the role entails, talk to the member currently in that role, or alternatively talk to the President, I am sure they would be happy to fill in any concerns for you. Now on a lighter note to end this tory, I have become Officially Old with the arrival of Cher and my first Great-Grandchild, a girl, yes mother and daughter are doing fine. If we don t see you before, from Cher and myself, have a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year and we look forward to seeing you all in 2019. That s All For Now. BRUNO.

NOTES FOR NOVEMBER MEETING BRISBANE ULYSSES BRANCH START TIME 7.30 ATTENDEES 18 APOLOGIES Rod, PRESIDENT Dick was late for meeting no comments made on the night. SECRETARY Thank you to Bruno and Claire for standing in last meeting while some committee members were away. Thank you to the members who came along for the social bbq we had 11 members on the day. There are some photos in the Don Reminder about the Christmas party see flyer in the Don. Nominations forms will be attached to both the December Don and January Don. Roelof did a talk on the Isetta which he has been restoring over the past few years. His pictures of the little car gave us insight on the work involved in resorting the Isetta. Thank you from the members for an interesting presentation. I will absent from the December meeting any information for the meeting will be handed to Michael. December Don will close on the 11th December for printing. Late articles will be included in the January Don. EDITOR thank for the contributions made this month. More ride reports would be appreciated or interesting articles The Don is holding it own but some input would be great. TREASURER. We are in the black plenty to support the Christmas party on the 8th December RIDE COORDINATOR Ken went through the calendar no changes to date WEB MASTER Andy needs at least 6 rides from the calendar to keep the web page up to date he also mentioned again the app which we could possibly use instead of the existing web page. But this would take some time to actually produce and get off the ground. GENERAL BUSINESS. As we were a bit behind time with presentation there was no trivia7yuuuuuuu or general discussion on the night. SHERIFF Claire, Ken and Roelof with Dick on the firing line this month. BIRTHDAYS Karen6 DOOR PRIZE Les GENERAL RAFFLE Michael, Andy and Karen, Les MEETING ENDED 8. 55

The Queensland Police Face book page followers are a funny lot. An amusing post on a closed road: A tree partied too hard last night, has passed out over the New England Highway at Highfields and has brought down powerlines. Both lanes have been closed to traffic. It was quickly followed by a follower suggesting: Better get special branch out immediately.

MORE LAUGHS A banker falls overboard from a mate s sailboat. His mate grabs a life preserver, holds it up, not knowing if the banker can swim, shouts Can you float alone? Obviously the banker replied, but this is a heck of a time to talk business. A man goes into a café and sits his six children at a table. A woman at a nearby table notices and asks: Are all these children yours? No he replies. I work for a condom company. These are customer complaints. Video Scam...Just got scammed out of $25. Bought Tiger Woods DVD entitled My Favorite 18 Holes. Turns out it s all about golf! Absolute waste of money! Pass this on so others don t get scammed

SOCIAL NIGHT AT THE BLUE FIN

A SUNDAY RIDE 25TH NOVEMBER 2018 Sunday 25th November a fine day for a ride to Kingscliffe (well not quite that far for me). Yes I know, I hope you are all sitting down as you read this. Bruno went for a short ride. Yep when I woke this morning the aches and pains of the joints were at a low point, so on with the riding gear, a couple of tablets to get me further and away I went to meet some other members at Maccas Eagleby. We departed a bit after 8.30am as Karen needed coffee to keep her going. Leading our merry group was Trevor, followed by 4 others on bikes with Ken as tail. Roy was there for a meet and greet only. A short run down the highway to the Stapleton exit and then a very enjoyable run through the cane fields to Pimpama. A good job Trevor, you took us on some roads I had not been on before, although I had been down that area many times before. It is cane season, the mill was working and I was surprised that there was very little aroma coming from it. Of course there were trucks hauling cut cane to the mill and you had to be careful on corners as there were small pieces of cut cane on the road. Eyes alert everyone. At the Pimpama highway join I departed the group stopping a couple of times on the way home, elbow giving grief now. But an enjoyable morning ride just the same. Traffic on the motorway was flowing until we got to the merge of highway and gateway where there was traffic control for road works, but they were not on the road That s All for Now. BRUNO

DECEMBER BIRTHDAYS DICK MARK BRUNO OUR BIRTHDAY GIRL FOR NOVEMBER INTERESTING FACTS REGARDING MOTOR CYCLES 1. Harley Davidson motorcycles have a failure rate over twice that of the top three motorcycle manufacturers in the world. 2. In 2003 Dodge built and sold nine motorcycles with a viper V-10 engine called the Dodge Tomahawk. 3. Keanu Reeves used his % profit from The Matrix to buy a motor cycle for all of the movie s stuntmen. 4. The rarest motorcycle in the world was found behind a brick wall in Chicago and has engine technologies well ahead of its time. The Traub is still running. 5. Motorcyclists are almost 30X more likely to die than other motorists. 6. The first responders to accidents in high-speed motorcycle races in Northern Ireland are motorcycle doctors. They travel at speeds upwards of 180mph to get to the scene. 7.. In 1935 German engineers created a streamlined motorcycle with the engine in the front wheel. There was likely only one made and its current location is unknown
