1 KILCOY Kilcoy is a busy little town with a variety of shops, including a supermarket and 2 hotels. There is also a lovely coffee shop in an old Queenslander house which has been kept in very good condition and has good coffee. The park along the highway, called Yowie Park has the local swimming pool and various other amenities and children s play area. It is also the venue for the local farmers markets. There is a Kilcoy History Trail which has very descriptive historical information along the trail. The history goes back to 1841 and follows on from there. The signs on the walk are designed and funded by the Kilcoy District Historical Society. The Kilcoy showground has a number of buildings including a hall, various amenities and an open area for watching events that are held in the showground arena. There was plenty of room to park our vans back to back as well as access to power and water. The only things we did not enjoy were the flies, which tended to stick to us everywhere. The weather was much cooler than we had anticipated and we also had some rain, which of course is much needed around the area. All of this did not dampen our spirits as we had a very enjoyable weekend celebrating our Christmas rally. Our post rally stop at Toogoolawah was very relaxing and lots of fun.
2 PRESIDENT S REPORT - KILCOY RALLY KILCOY - The Kilcoy Christmas Rally really was a great fun filled event, we expected a heat wave but it turned out quite cool with a few light showers, not enough to spoil our Rally. We arrived late on Thursday and there were already 8 vans there. By Friday afternoon we had 19 vans - a really good roll up. Some members could not attend with their vans so they stayed in the Motel and others came as day visitors on Saturday. Unfortunately 7 members had to cancel due to various reasons. Friday after morning tea the disc bowls were brought out, then later in the afternoon some of the ladies did craft work before the BBQ S were fired up for the evening meal. That was followed by games in the hall. Saturday at morning tea Bill Raymond presented the Police quiz & I am sure we all now know we need to brush up on the road rules. Then at 11.30 the shuttle bus started ferrying us to the Exchange Hotel for Christmas lunch - what a great meal it was. Later in the afternoon back at camp the tables were decorated for the shared nibbles meal before Santa arrived with presents for everyone. Then Sarah & her helpers provided various types of entertainment. This was followed by some members playing board games. Special thanks to Sarah & her helpers for providing the entertainment, also Bob for organising a great meal at the Hotel and Bill Raymond for the Police quiz. After the usual Sunday morning wrap up some members travelled to Toogoolawah to relax at the old Railway station free Camp. It was pleasing to hear several people say it was one of the best Rallys they had attended. Next rally is at Allawah Scouts Camp 16 th to 21 st January 2019 Australia Day Theme, see you all there. If you have found a location that you think is acceptable to stop at then please let me know so I can list it here for others who may wish to visit this site on their travels. We found one recently, which some of you may be aware of, that we thought was acceptable. It is at Jennings NSW, across the rail line from Wallangarra on the New England Highway. The site is a huge area down the road from the Jennings Hotel. There is heaps of room, also has a pit toilet. Grass looks as though it is always mowed and there are some trees for shade.
