BB REFLECTIONS The Boys Brigade plays a significant role in the mission and outreach of over 1450 churches throughout the British Isles where dedicated adult volunteers work with over 50,000 children and young people each week building positive relationships seeking to share the Gospel in a relevant and meaningful way. = 1,450 CHURCHES ACROSS BRITAIN = 50,000 CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE This Annual Review shares just a small amount of that ongoing work. To see the BB in action, then visit your local Company. THIS EDITION CONTAINS BB Reflections A Year in pictures National Competitions This has been an interesting and varied session. A large number of Companies have shown a significant increase in members, but at the same time many groups have continued to struggle and a number have closed. It is very rare that a Company closes due to lack of young people, but finding sufficient adult volunteers in some areas is a real issue. Diamond Jubilee Baton Relay The year marks Her Majesty s Diamond Jubilee and the Brigade was delighted that our Patron agreed to receive the annual Loyal Greeting in person at Balmoral Castle in August. The Queen s reply was then transported in a silver baton throughout the British Isles to be received at Brigade Council in London. The baton was first used in 1935 to bring greetings to Her Majesty s Grandfather on the occasion of His Silver Jubilee. On its journey the baton was carried by members of all ages and on a variety of different modes of transport including by bicycle, foot, boat and even a milk float. Ten Percent in 22 We are embarking on a campaign to increase our numbers by ten percent in the next session. Many Companies have already signed up and are looking at how to promote BB in their community to recruit additional young people and adults.
