WELCOME Welcome to the second M-Fest! After the success of last year we are delighted to once again be bringing live music back to Midsomer Norton as part of the town s traditional July celebrations! Once again we have two outdoor stages - the Main Stage in the lower Higher Street and the Acoustic Stage in the Hollies Garden - and both are packed with a range of fantastic local talent covering the best of rock, pop, reggae, ska, country, folk and more! We were overwhelmed with the support for this event last year with revellers celebrating the town s musical talent in glorious sunshine. Everyone involved hopes that the weather will be just as generous with us this year! We are also delighted that many of our local pubs in the High Street have programmed complementary activities and live music in the evening after the outdoor stages have finished. Last year s event would not have been possible without The Wunderbar, which sadly left the town shortly after, but we hope that through this event its spirit will continue! Venezuelan Pig Rustlers Get ready to rock with Martin and the gang. A good time guaranteed from the local rock n roll heroes. Troy Ellis Troy is one of the sons of the legendary Alton Ellis OD. Born in Trench Town, Kingston, Jamaica. He used to perform on the streets from a young age when he realised what he wanted to achieve in life. Now Troy brings his reggae vibes to Midsomer Norton
Norton Youth Club Imperial Leisure Taking influences from all around, this will be a fun-loving throwback to the ska-2-tone era combined with more recent punkrock-hip-hop sounds. It's always a party and it's always huge: gigs are an exhilarating experience from start to finish with very little let up in between. Ye Olde Avalon Combining rock country, rocky and blue this popular local 5 piece have just launched their highly anticipated new album and will have you dancing in the street. For M-Fest the NYC are running their cafe for the whole community and are selling a range of soft drinks in the Hollies Garden right next to the Acoustic Stage. Come and say hello! NYC is a free Youth Club based in Midsomer Norton Town Hall for 11 17 year olds. The weekly drop in sessions take place every Thursday, 6pm - 7pm (Under 14s), 7pm - 7.30pm and 7.30pm - 8.30pm (15-17 year olds). There s loads on offer with Xbox One, table tennis and chill out space with bluetooth speakers as well as a programme of activities including cooking, band jams, DJ ing, graffiti art and much more. The NYC also put on a range of events throughout the year such as regular cinema nights and the Youth-only Café. NYC is a community project delivered by Wansdyke Play Association and Midsomer Norton Community Trust and is sponsored by Midsomer Norton Town Council. OUR PARTNERS The aim of the Midsomer Norton Community Trust, founded in 2013, is to encourage community in Midsomer Norton. We organise major town events and activities as well as manage the Town Hall and the Orchard Hall community buildings on a day to day basis. We run the Midsomer Norton Community Cinema which, as well as including new film releases and classic films, also screens live broadcast events such as National Theatre Live. The cinema benefits from our investment in top of the range HD projection and 8.1 surround sound facilities at the Town Hall. With the comfy seating and a fully licensed bar selling popcorn and ice cream we offer the full cinema experience. Throughout the year we run a Live Music Arts Programme with monthly concerts and favourites such as the Paradis Trio on the first Friday of the month at the Town Hall and the First Thursday event at Welton Rovers. We organise the Midsomer Arts Fest, Midsomer Norton Fayre and the new M-Fest live music event bringing the whole community together at the heart of Midsomer Norton. We have our own Midsomer Crafters Group which encourages makers in the Somer Valley to come together and sell their products at the Farmers Market and other events.
