August 2015 Together. We Shape The Future Mid-Monthly Newsletter of Lions International District 202M Rex s Rhetoric Greetings fellow Lions If we always do what we ve always done Then we ll always get what we ve always got! Trish and I are enjoying the opportunity to visit clubs throughout the district and to learn what makes our District such a mighty one. The sharing of club visits is a change to the traditional approach of expecting the District Governor to visit each and every club, a task that takes most of the year and requires a major commitment by the DG. As 1 st VDG Sam and I visit clubs, we get to know them better and are able to contribute to the running of the District more constructively because of this. The knowledge gained and shared amongst the three of us will be extremely valuable as we work together to strengthen the pride. Did you know that already Lions Worldwide have supported over 42 million people since the start of the Centennial Service Challenge, which means we are well on the way to achieving our target of 100 Million how is your club tracking? Join Lions around the world for a special Lions Worldwide Week of Service dedicated to making the future brighter for our children. This international event is designed to benefit the most vulnerable members of our community, and to help us reach our Centennial Service Challenge. Consider hosting a service project that benefits children and youth in your community during the Week of Service August 30th September 5th. From health, education, and development projects, to helping friends and neighbours meet their children's basic needs, there are countless ways to impact youth in your community and around the globe. No matter how you choose to serve, be sure to make it a Centennial service event! Download the Children First Planning Guide for project ideas and planning tips from http://www.lionsclubs.org/resources/en/pdfs/iad252.pdf Why not also start planning for the Worldwide week of Service for Sight October 4 th 10 th. Yours in Service Rex Bullard Second Vice District Governor 202M
