As I came home from Lower Hutt today I noticed the Tararuas. They looked so beautiful covered completely in snow. What a sight to see against the clear blue sky. Going down around Gray s Road to Pauatahanui earlier in the day, the inlet was just like a mirror. I reflected what a beautiful area we live in and how fortunate we are. 1

I have been in contact with the Sun Coast Club from Florida and hopefully they will be here in March 2017 for an exchange. Time is moving on and soon the exchange to Canada and USA will be underway. I am sure the participants are counting down the days almost. Coming up is the Ten Pin Bowling Evening. Thank you Ron for organising this once again. Also Nuts and Bolts Day is happening this month. More information is in the newsletter and I know Debbie has everything under control. A subcommittee continues to work on planning our 30th birthday celebrations and you will find your invitation included in this newsletter. We look forward to a fun evening with lots of reminiscing. If you know someone who is no longer a member of the club but has been in years past, do tell them about the birthday and we can always send an invitation if they are interested. Until next month keep warm and take care. Judy UPCOMING EVENTS Coffee Morning Wednesday 14 September Jan says to meet at White Rose Cakery 44 Seaview Road, 5032 Paraparaumu (this was formerly Over the Teacups) Ten Pin Bowling Wednesday 24 August Ron has the arrangements for this popular annual social function well in hand. If you are not bowling perhaps you would like to join the group for dinner afterwards. Contact: Ron Head 904 6515 huckleberry@paradise.net.nz Almoner s Report We are pleased to note that Mary Gilbert is now mobile and is looking forward to joining us for future Friendship Force activities. And for our President Judy who will be going into hospital on Wednesday for her long-awaited surgery, we send our best wishes for a quick recovery. 2
