Looking Ahead to 2019: Here s a taste of things to come: Last year s Mystery Trip was such a success, that another is scheduled to start off the year in April. The Appreciation Brunch will be hosted in a new venue the newly completed Briggs Woods Conference Center. Then to pay homage to our Iowa entrepreneurs, we ll hear and see the stories of the Iowans who are making history as we tour Sukup Manufacturing, Winnebago Industries, and the POW Museum in Algona. will have us explore the shores of Lakes Superior, Michigan and Huron. Back by popular demand, The Ark Encounter & Creation Museum tour. France and the Seine River Cruise beckons us in August. Our ever popular Mississippi Cruise will take us to the Dubuque and Dyersville area in the fall. We ll end the year with a 1-day Christmas tour to be announced. Looking fine for 2010 & 9! PRESTIGE CLUB PRESENTS June 8 14, 2019 Lakes Michigan, Huron & Superior Day 1: Welcome aboard as we pass around the tip of southern Lake Michigan before arriving at our destination of Holland, MI. There will be an exciting, traditional Dutch meal this evening (D) Day 2: We travel to Saugatuck, MI to experience one of the Great Lakes most amazing phenomena, while riding on a specially equipped Dune Buggy. We next visit Wind Mill Island and the famous De Zwaan, an authentic Dutch windmill, and is the oldest working Dutch windmill in the United States. Next, we visit a reproduction of an 1800 s Dutch Village, and then travel to Thunder Bay Resort. Ride on a horse drawn carriage that takes you into the woods to Elk Antler Log Cabin, which is an elegant cabin that provides every amenity, while culinary artist Spenser James and his staff prepare your gourmet meal. (BD) Day 3: Travel to the Presque Isle Light Station, which is located on the Lake Huron shoreline. It is now a museum that provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about local history. Lunch is included at the Lighthouse Restaurant. Visit the Great Lakes Lore Museum that specializes in memories, not just artifacts. Head to a Calcite mine before continuing on to 40 Mile Point Lighthouse. Follow Shipwreck Trail to one of 27 wooden ships that sank during a fierce storm in 1905. Next, we continue our travels to Mackinac City for a ferry ride to Mackinac Island as we step back in time for a horse drawn carriage to transport us to our accommodations on the island. Enjoy a Sip N Salil sunset cruise around the island. (BL) Day 4: We board a horse drawn carriage for a narrated tour of the island that ends at the Grand Hotel with its fabulous buffet. Visit some of the unique shops on Main Street, and be sure to sample some of the famous fudge. Later we board a ferry to St. Ignace, where we will board our motorcoach to Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Enjoy a dinner and the experience of locking through the Soo Locks. (BLD) Day 5: We travel to the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point, WI where we will learn about the perils of maritime transport. See the Whitefish Point Light Tower, in continuous operation for 155 years. The museum features a 15-minute movie, a variety of nautical exhibits and artifacts from sunken ships. This afternoon we travel to the Tahquamenon Falls State Park, located in Michigan s Upper Peninsula. The ambercolored waters of the Tahquamenon River cascade over the falls, sending 40,000 gallons of water down a 50- foot vertical drop every second. We continue our travel to Munsing, MI for our overnight. (BD) Day 6: Enjoy a unique two hour Pictured Rock Cruise along the shores of Lake Superior, weather permitting. A buffet lunch in included at the Dogpatch Restaurant. This afternoon we continue our travels westward to Da Yoopers Tourist Trap. It was voted Best Gift Shop in the Michigan Great Lakes and a small museum of artifacts but the best attractions are outdoors. Big Gus, the World s largest working chainsaw, sits on a rise pointing towards the highway. Even larger is Big Ernie, the world s largest working rifle. Da Yoopers Tourist Trap is a combination gift shop and lots of laughs. (BLD) Day 7: This morning we visit the four-season, 180-acre Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center in Ashland, WI. If you are up to the challenge, a 2/3-mile board walk trail system winds through the cedar and tamarack wetlands. There is a five-story observation tower, wildlife viewing platform, a 100-seat theater, interpretive and historic exhibits and regional visitor information. Now sit back and relax as our deluxe motorcoach ushers us home after enjoying our Great Lakes Shores and More Adventure. (B) This tour has been custom designed for us by Tri-State Travel, Galena, IL.
