World Design Capital Taipei 2016 International Design House Exhibition Exhibition Participation Procedures I. Foreword Introduction World Design Capital (abbreviated to WDC) is a global event initiated by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (abbreviated to Icsid). Successive cities of the title World Design Capital have all experimented in using design thinking to put forward praiseworthy solutions to resolve major development issues facing their city, and in applying innovative and creative approaches to pursue a vision for urban development. 2016 will see Taipei as the host city for the World Design Capital. In the series of official activities to be held throughout the year, the "International Design House Exhibition" will be the key event for international exchange, as well as being the show venue for global design. By inviting a multitude of international cities to curate their exhibits in Taipei, we aim to enable internationally acclaimed design communities / teams to showcase their city's best designs. This exhibition will also provide the opportunity for designers to share their ideas, creativity, and professional experience, promoting global design to attract local and international visitors. II. Exhibition Period 2016, October 13 (Thursday) to October 30 (Sunday) - a total of 18 days. Open Daily: 10:00 am - 18:00 pm IV. Exhibition Venue Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Warehouse No. 4 (No. 133, Guangfu South Road, Xinyi District, Taipei) V. Target Visitors and Admission Fully open to the general public for free admission. VI. Exhibitor Eligibility 1. Governments or representative offices from countries and major cities around the world. 2. International city organizations, design centers, cultural associations, design organizations, design related colleges and universities, and
non-profit organisations (including art galleries and museums). 3. Businesses, design companies, or design teams internationally engaged in design related disciplines including product design, culture and creativity, interactive design, architectural design, and graphic design are eligible to apply to participate in the exhibition. Exhibit contents should adequately represent their respective city's image and style. 4. Conforming to one of the above conditions, and exhibit contents will have to comply with the exhibition theme as set by the organisers. A review of eligibility will be carried out, and only exhibitors who have passed the eligibility criteria will be eligible to participate in the exhibition. VII. Exhibition Area: Theme and Planning 1. The Theme of the exhibition The conceptual hub of the World Design Capital Taipei 2016 is "Adaptive City - Design in Motion." Taipei is a city that is continuously adapting to the environment and constantly evolving and growing. Taipei City is adopting "social design" to improve social problems, pursuing strategies that enable sustainable improvement of cities, and implementing cooperative efforts and innovative solutions that adopt interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary approaches to address the current issues and challenges facing cities around the world with respect to the four aspects of "life quality and health," "ecological sustainability," "smart living," and "urban regeneration." 2. Exhibition Area Plan The exhibition area will be located in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Warehouse No. 4. Venue area: 385 ping (1 ping = 3.3 square meters). Each standard booth area: 9 square meters. Each exhibitor / city must apply for at least four booths (36 square meters) up to a maximum of 12 booths (108 square meters). It is expected to invite a total of more than 8 organisations / cities to participate in the exhibition. Graphic illustration of the exhibition area is described below.

VIII. Exhibitor Fees and Booth Utilities 1. Registration Fee: Free of charge 2. Booth Fee: Free of charge 3. Booth Deposit: Free of charge 4. Other Charges Each booth provides free basic 500W power supply. If the water and electricity used by the exhibitor exceeds the allocated quota, then the exhibitor must pay for the amount exceeding the quota. 5. Booth Specifications (1) Each booth is 9 square meters in area (3 meters 3 meters). (2) Each exhibitor / city must apply for at least four booths (36 square meters) up to a maximum of 12 booths (108 square meters). (3) Each exhibitor is free to choose either undecorated booths or booths with basic decoration. Booth specifications are described below. a. Undecorated Booth Provides free basic 500W power supply. Please contact qualified booth decoration suppliers yourself for other decoration matters, such as booth partitioning, carpet, decoration, and other display equipment. b. Basic Decorated Booth Basic decoration of each booth includes basic 500W power supply, and standard rear panels and display racks that conform to the representative color scheme proposed for each area in the exhibition plan, and which present an overall unified visual effect. (4) Occupation of Booth: total 23 days, which includes duration of exhibition period,: 18 days; entering the exhibition area to set up booths, etc., prior to opening of the exhibition: 4 days; and clearing out booths (leaving the exhibition area after closing of the exhibition): 1 day. 6. Restrictions on Applications for Booths There is a minimum of at least four booth applications for each exhibition area. The Executive Organiser will rearrange the number of booths for each exhibitor depending on the overall status of applications for booths. IX. How to Register 1. Registration Procedure When preparing the registration form, applicants should submit the following documents. Applications that do not include all the required documents will be considered incomplete and will not be accepted. (1) Exhibitor Registration Form (2) Exhibit Proposal Proposal specifications are as follows: a. Number of Pages: Within 10 pages of A4 size paper b. Statements included in the proposal:

Registration Period From now until March 7 th (Monday), 2016. 4. Registration Review Procedure The Executive Organizer will invite experts to conduct a preliminary review of the content of the exhibitor's Exhibit Content Proposal before provide official announcement. The Main Organiser and the Executive Organizer retain the right to decide who is eligible to participate in the exhibition, and is not open to discussion by exhibitors. 5. Allocation of Booths The Main Organiser and the Executive Organiser will have full responsibility for the allocation of booths based on the principle of overall visitor flow plan and in order of priority according to the contents of the exhibition area, overseas organisations, size of booths, and registration times, and will endeavor to coordinate the needs of each exhibitor. However, the Main Organiser retains the right to make the final decision regarding allocation and change in allocation of booths to exhibitors. X. Arrangement and Dismantling of Exhibition Booths 1. Entering the exhibition area: 2016, October 9 (Sunday) - October 12 (Wednesday). Daily: 7:00 am to 18:00 pm - a total of four days to set up booths, etc., prior to the opening of the exhibition. 2. Exhibition Period: 2016, October 13 (Thursday) to October 30 (Sunday). Daily: 10:00 am to 18:00 pm - a total of 18 days. 3. Leaving the exhibition area: 2016, October 31 (Monday) - 7:00 am to 17:00 pm - a total of 1 day to remove exhibits and decoration materials after closing of the exhibition.
XI. Rights and Obligations of Exhibitor 1. Taiwan Design Center will undertake overall planning of the exhibition image and public space (including storage and walkways). 2. Each exhibitor should put into effect and carry out the overall design concept including space design and graphic visuals in accordance with the content of their application proposal. 3. Approved and selected exhibitors are required to provide relevant information in accordance with the regulations, including information on the most significant features of their exhibits, a complete list of their exhibits, high-resolution image files of each exhibit, and company profile in order for the Taiwan Design Center to produce necessary publicity materials or a promotion film for promotional purposes of the exhibition. 4. Each exhibitor is responsible for the management and cleaning of their own exhibition area. 5. To maintain the smooth running of the exhibition, if special circumstances result in a booth having to be rearranged, the Executive Organiser will coordinate with the respective exhibitor and ensure that they retain their right to re-plan and rearrange their booth. 6. Each exhibitor is required to cooperate with the smooth running of the exhibition by dispatching personnel to the exhibition booth to receive visitors and introduce their exhibits during opening times of the exhibition. 7. In order to safeguard the exhibits and ensure the safety of the layout of booths, we ask that all exhibitors be sure to keep to the times for entering and leaving their respective exhibition area, and to enter and leave the exhibition at the same time to assure the safety of the exhibits on display while the exhibition is fully open to the public. Please note that exhibitors are responsible for the safekeeping of their own valuables, and are requested to arrange their own appropriate insurance. 8. Exhibitors are required to attend a coordination meeting presided over by the Taiwan Design Center, and abide by the decisions made in the meeting. 9. Regarding protection of copyrights, patent rights, or other intellectual property rights of exhibits, exhibitors should themselves submit the appropriate application according to the law. If any of the exhibits involve violation of the intellectual property rights of others, such as plagiarism or counterfeiting, in addition to the Taiwan Design Center canceling eligibility of the respective exhibit to be displayed in the exhibition, the Taiwan Design Center will also investigate related liability and compensation issues for damages. 10. The Main Organiser retains the right to change the schedule and location of the exhibition based on actual circumstances. Should there be a natural disaster or other force majeure factor, resulting in having to
change the exhibition date or location due to, the Executive Organizer will endeavor to coordinate the arrangement of other viable workarounds but is not liable for compensation. 11. Each exhibitor is entitled to participate in or attend without charge activities of the International Design House Exhibition open to the public. 12. Such as the opening press conference and opening ceremony. The Main Organiser has the right to amend as necessary any procedure not covered in the above.
