Pony Tales Volume 3, Issue 4 Fall 2008 Maggie Valley 08 Inside this issue: Cub Scout Show 2 Breast Cancer Walk 2 New Members 2 Meeting Minutes 3 Next Meeting 3 Fall Pony Roundup 3 Members in Business 4 Tropical storm off the Carolina coast, severe gas shortage, economy falling like a rock. A perfect storm for killing a car show, but what a surprise. We had 164 entries in the 35th annual show. Friday dawned with a gray sky in Atlanta as we grouped up for the cruise to the Dillard House. As usual breakfast was a big event and everyone had their fill. Shortly after leaving the Dillard House, we encountered a miserable light rain all the way to Maggie Valley. We set up in the gazebo outside the Smoky Falls Lodge to stuff goody bags. In less than an hour we had 300 goody bags stuffed and ready to be given out to the show participants. After packing goody bags, Ernie had made arrangements for the group to eat at Snappy s Italian restaurant. The food was good and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. Thanks Ernie!! We all went back to our rooms to wonder what the morning would bring. Saturday dawned with no rain and some clouds. As the day progressed, it was obvious that the rain was going to stay away. We had a lot of door prizes and the best one was a $1000 paint job donated by NAPA-Martin Senior paints. The prize was won by someone who actually needed a paint job. The Jim Osborn Award went to Robert Jake with a 36 Mustang (a 36 ford body on a Fox chassis and power train). The best of show went to Melvin Johnson with his 68 fastback. The show was a success even though it was uphill challenge this year. Thanks to all who were involved in making it happen!!

PAGE 2 VOLUME 3, ISSUE 4 Loganville Cub Scout Show The Loganville Cub Scout Pack 525 held their annual show at O reilly Auto Parts on October 4th. The club turned out in a big way to support the pack. We won the club participation award with 11 of the 114 entries. Congrats Rhonda with her 07 Saleen Heritage, Chris with his Eleanor and John with his 69 Pro Street Boss 302 for taking their class awards. The club trophy will be on display at Chris Agee Resto Racing in Loganville. Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Walk Debra Ramey participated in the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer walk with some friends. The club helped Debra out with a donation and some Warriors In Pink gear for the walk. Debra s team raised $1490 for the Cancer Society. Debra says I encourage more members to join me next year. We had a blast! New Members We have signed up 3 new members in the last 2 months and would like all to join me in welcoming them to the group. They are: Wayne & Rhonda Wilson, son Kyle and daughter Katie from Loganville Mike & Loretta Johnston from Loganville We also have a new Business member -Temple Performance with the Legend Mustangs Colin McDonough from Clarkesville

VOLUME 3, ISSUE 4 PAGE 3 October Meeting Minutes The October meeting was held at Mustangs Unlimited during the Fall Pony Roundup. Members in attendance were: Sue Osborn, David Osborn, Butch & Barbara Hollingsworth, Ronnie Farmer, Tom Longerbeam, Jeff & Debra Ramey, Joe Huff, David & Sherry Johnson, and Richard Groont. David called the meeting to order. The treasury balance is above $6000 before the deposit from Jackie for the show. The balance included the donation to Debra and all bills from the 35th show. A motion was made to amend the by laws to include a statement allowing elected officers who miss three consecutive meetings to be removed from office. The motion carried with a 100% yes vote. We set the next meeting for Nov 23rd at 1:30 at Mackinaw Power in Monroe. The meeting was adjourned November Meeting The next meeting will be held at Mackinaw Power in Monroe Nov 23 at 1:30. We will discuss where to make our charitable donations. We had a lot of good ideas at our last meeting. Bring the specifics and we ll decide where to use our charity money. Also, we need to plan the after Christmas party. If you have any ideas for a location, bring them with you. If you would like a plant tour after the meeting, wear closed toe shoes and jeans. If you have a GPS, the address is 208 Cherry Hill Road, Monroe 30656. From Commerce area-take 441 to US 78w in Athens. Take 78w to Cherry Hill Road-turn right, plant is on right From South & West-take 316 to Highway 11. Highway 11 to Monroe-Take 78 toward Athens, turn left on Cherry Hill Road (about 1 mile). If you need better directions give David J. a call at 678-357-8615 Fall Pony Round Up We held our annual Fall Pony Round Up and Toys for Tots show at Mustangs Unlimited October 25th. When the awards were given out, we had registered 42 registered participants. Mustangs Unlimited offered discounts for all the participants so several of us went home with good stuff at a savings. We col- lected several toys and about $300 in cash. Mustangs Unlimited donated their raffle money and a donation from Temple Performance brought the total to more than $500 for Toys for Tots. Debra took the money to buy toys at Walmart. Thes will be added to the toys donated at the show and then dropped off at Hayes Chevrolet in Baldwin. Thanks Debra!!
