2019 SUMMIT OVERVIEW FUTURE PROOF THE AUSTRALIAN ECONOMY
A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO On behalf of the board and staf of the Carbon Market Institute, I invite you to join us at Australia s premier climate change and business event for 2019, the 6th annual Australasian Emissions Reduction Summit on the 8 & 9 May at the MCG. Together with our 2019 Diamond Summit Partners, ANZ, GreenCollar and Qantas Future Planet, the Carbon Market Institute has enjoyed tremendously successful events over the past few years. In 2018, 100 speakers from business and government connected with nearly 600 delegates, including national and international leaders from government, business, technology and finance. The 6th Australasian Emissions Reduction Summit is set to be a bigger, more significanand more impactful event. The 2019 event will come in an election year in Australia, and at a time when countries will begin grappling with the implications of the newly minted Paris rulebook. Australian business will be looking to take real steps towards investing in emissions reductions and deploying low carbon technologies at scale across the region. It will also be a time when regional carbon markets will be gearing up as the post-paris transition kicks in. The Summit will again be a high profile platorm to conenct with key customers, business peers and opinion makers, and to be at the forefront of the knowledge exchange & commercial interaction in Australia s zero-carbon transition. I invite you to attend the 2019 Summit and add your influene and leadership alongside those driving Australia s transition to a low carbon economy in a post-paris world. Warm regards, Peter Castellas Chief Executive Officer
ABOUT THE SUMMIT The Carbon Market Institute s annual flagship event brings together national & international leaders from business, government, technology & finance for knowledge exchange & commercial interaction on how to manage risk & create economic opportunities in the transition to a low carbon world. KNOWLEDGE SHARING COMMERCIAL INTERACTION CAPACITY BUILDING The 6th Australasian Emissions Reduction Summit will again be the largest climate change and business event in Australia and take its place of increasing interest and influence on the regional Asia Pacific stage. For Australian business and policy decision makers, charting a course for growth and meeting national emissions targets is a challenge that will intensify. There is no guide book for navigating the low carbon economy, and delegates attending the Summit will be looking for technology, finance, and low carbon solutions, best practice corporate strategies, the opportunities to collaborate and the services and advice to help optimise their own position. 72% of Summit delegates represent Australian & international business. The event also attracts subnational and national government leaders, as well as those from research and development, finance, technology, professional and legal services.
SUMMIT PROGRAM The 2019 Summit program will be structured to maximise knowledge exchange, commercial interaction and peerto-peer networking. The Summit will run over two days at the world-class Melbourne Cricket Ground. The official program of the 6th Australasian Emissions Reduction Summit will include Keynote Presentations, facilitated panel discussions, and interactive workshops focused on sharing knowledge across three streams: Policy Summit sessions will cover a wide range of policy discussions, including the evolution of Australian policy following the 2017 Climate Policy Review; subnational action on climate change, and development of the Paris Agreement. Markets Development of carbon markets is a key focus for this event, particularly in the context of understanding abatement demand/supply post-2020; international market linkages; and the role of climate finance in the transition. Business Business is learning rapidly, and through the two-day program, companies will share leadership, experiences, and understand the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities in the transition to a zero-carbon economy. Finance Delegates and presenters will discuss how the mix of public and private sector finance can be leveraged to drive investment in the development and deployment of low-emissions solutions and technologies at scale.
